Bummed me out. He seemed like a pretty cool dude.

Mine too, and I was born in 79. I had a Monkees tape when I was a kid and I listened to it all the time. "Daydream Believer" was my favorite.

I'm sorry to see him go. The Monkees were fun and their later, less commercially successful, stuff was actually pretty good.

Reading his obituary, I never knew he used to be a jockey in England before he came to the U.S.

I was a member of The Monkees Fan Club. I'm pretty sure I still have "The Monkees", "More of the Monkees" and "Headquarters" albums stashed somewhere. When I first joined BF, I thought member "Bob Dopolina" was a play on the Monkees' song "Zilch", where part of of the lyrics refer to "Mister Dobalina/Mister Bob Dobalina".

RIP Davey.

All English men must serve as jockeys before emigrating to the colonies. Obscure fact, but true none the less. Or at least it should be. The Monkees were a big player in my childhood as well. I want their GTO.

The group always fascinated me a bit in how it developed. Shame to see one of them pass on.

I got to play with one of their studio musicians once; he didn't talk much about the experience. I'd love to go back and pick that guy's brain again just for some stories.

I know kid.
This stuff and Donnie+Marie Osmond were the only TV rock show series we had. This created a lot of serial killers in the early 70's.

It was a "short" lifespan for Davey

Mike was the only actual musician of the bunch. Also, in holding out from the reunions, showed that he really was the sensible one too.
