Freaky email confirmation...

So, I'm here planning a date. I found the perfect place and wanted to make a reservation. I filled out a web form with my name, address, phone, etc. But the form never asked me for my email and I've never been on this web site before.

When I hit submit, I got redirected to what looks like an advertising company. It said "Your reservation to <the place I'm going> has been processed by <the advertising company>. An email confirmation has been sent to <my email>."

I check my email, sure enough, my confirmation is there. Freaky indeed because I never gave them my email. Even freakier because this is not the email I would have use for this things. I have 3 emails, one for this kind of things and everything shopping-related, one for professional stuff only (job hunting) and a personal one. They found out my personal one. WTF?

LOL... Man, if this data mining keeps on going, its gonna get really bad. It would be like "Your reservation is confirmed. However, our database shows you have no shirt to match those new pants you bought yesterday, we'll send you some suggestions".

The omnigoogle will also suggest adequate underpants for the occasion, and activities to engage in after the date... based on what it knows your preferences are already.

You've been typecast by the omnigoogle.

Whatever you do, don't allow someone to "tag" you in a soiled underwear pic on FB.

Be wary if an elderly woman in a bright yellow Corvette turns out to be your date and suggests stopping by the post office after dinner.

I was listening to an interview with an author (donít remember the author or book) the other day. He was telling a story about how Target was able to calculate which women were most likely to be pregnant based on a progression of purchases they made. They could even predict fairly accurately the due date. The goal of course to send them Target coupons for baby things etc. It was pretty spooky.
