Rage quit

Rage Quit: To stop, cease, or discontinue an activity due to aggravation from being constantly pawned.

That's one of the many definitions of "rage quit" available on the inter-webs. Finding examples of "rage quit" is easy. Whoever, studies about "why" rage quit occurs are not that many.

From my own experience in multiple gaming forums, I believe that the rage-quitter's goal is become a martyr in an attempt to rally the troops. The video below would be a perfect example of such strategy successfully achieving that goal:

Youtube linky (embedding was dissabled): Sheldon Paintball Scene

That kind of success rarely happens in real life tho.

The Buddha could have told you that thousands of years ago. You can't get pwnd if you don't have ego in the game.

You keep playing those video games while unemployed and you'll turn into a mushroom.

Here's another curious instance of "rage quit". This is when you get fired, but instead you say you quit...

Funny you mention it. BF3 is aware that Rage Quiting is a valuable stat that should be measured. Ergo they keep 3 numbers when you play: Wins, Looses, Quits. ATM my stats say I quit 10% of the time. Mostly due to real life stuff that requires immediate attention. But yeah, some rage quitting due to < expletive > incompetent team mates making mah loose to many games in a row.
