It's a Netflix for shavers!

Someone posted a link to this outfit on my fb wall. Note that I don't click on the link, but I do use Google to find the corresponding product/service website and then check it out- gotta be careful about those social media links.

Anyway, the link was for dollarshaveclub.com. The home page has an embedded video that is a promo for their service. It's quirky, kinda got a Mel Brooks vibe. i had to email them about the quantity for each level of product, and they just responded by informing me the base plan gets 5, mid is 4, the premium 3.

Just thought I'd pass this along for anyone who may be tired of spending $20 for a Schick or a mint on Gillette...

I just joined. When you join, you get a link to post on your FB page and each click and join gets you free product. I went with the 4 blade razor, 4 per month for $6.00.

Report back how much the shipping and handling costs are. Depending on how much that is, this just might be a no brainer. Can't tell you the number of times I've bought a 'system' only to not be able to find replacement blades later. I think at one point I had 4 handles that I couldn't find blades for.

S&H is included in the base price. $6 is the total price per month for four 4 bladed cartridges. I was tempted to go cheap and get five twin blade cartridges for $1 month shipping and handling included.

Just double checked their site- I'm seeing the $1 + s/h, while the $6 and $9 plans include s/h. Question- is a recurring monthly fee, or an annualized price broken down by month?

^^ Yeah, if they'd just send me a dozen REALLY GOOD double edge blades for $1 a year, I'd join right up.

Yeah, I think I'm still on the same cartridge I started the year with and using the same cake of shaving cream from last year.

Several years ago I bought several BIG bags of Gillette Good News Razors for about a buck a bag. They did OK, lasted well if I made sure I rinsed them well. Well I am finally am down to the last one or two. Holy Crap! are razors more expensive BY FAR now. What was once a $5 bag of razors is now about $25. Shazam.

How the heck do ya'll go a month on a cartridge. If I don't change several times a month, I get nicks and cuts galore. I figure I can afford $1.50 per week to shave.

Better technique? Beats me, I've always been able to use blades for at least a month.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

I've been using the same blade for 25 years......and the blade was made in the 1890's and is Missouri Blue Steel. The razor has a bone handle, too. I picked it up in a little antique store.....a cut throat straight razor.

I shave right after showering while my beard is soft. I get cut less and the blade lasts longer.

I got tired of bleeding. I solved that problem years ago by going with an electric razor.
