Yes, if you must know, I AM a rocket surgeon

or at least I play one in Cub Scouts. Made this tonight for our blue gold banquet tomorrow night. It will be part of the advancement ceremony.

I had to take "Rocket Propulsion" in my undergrad days.

The prof was a peer of Werner von Braun; both in Huntsville, and a little earlier, on the other side of the Atlantic.

A rocket surgeon? How many rockets did you have to dissect to build that one, Dr. jsharrenstein?

Downloaded images from here:

http://www.scoutingbsa.org/council_t...2/clipart.html

And printed them at home and taped them to the boxes.

Tons of scouting stuff online, and most of it is free.

I used to work in ground systems safety at Vandenberg, does that count?

Is the advancement ceremony the one with the paddles?

I was going to go there, but it looked a little fishy.

Anyway, looks good !

The Bobcat and Tiger Badges are the launch pad.

As we present each new den with their rank, their leader will add the box to the rocket. Will start at Bobcat and Tiger, then Wolf, etc.

We have a pretty cool Akela themed Arrow ceremony planned with dimmed lights and candles and a drum.

Granbury is on the wrong side of Ft. Worth from Richardson. I have talked to classrooms before, took in flying gear and "things blowing up" video. The latter didn't go over well with the "peace, love, harmony" mindset of the teacher. Ooops.

Regarding rockets, I have launched a few. I got the boys involved and were very successful at launching rockets. Not so much when it came to recovery. Nice clean launches using max motor size resulted in too many loss of visual contact type scenario's. Probably should have started a little smaller on motors but where is the fun in that?
