Ever take an IQ test?

A real one, not some dinky little magazine test.

ModoVincere 03-27-12 02:35 PM

yes.
I failed.

jsharr 03-27-12 02:37 PM

I did not get past I.

Shimagnolo 03-27-12 02:38 PM

I cheated off of MV.:(

I was told my result generated an irrational number. Something that began with 3.14 and went on from there.

ahsposo 03-27-12 03:05 PM

There's a Test?!!!

ilikebikes 03-27-12 03:50 PM

Yes, I'm an idiot.

Allen 03-27-12 04:23 PM

Yes. It was a flawed test, as were the SATs.

FrenchFit 03-27-12 04:24 PM

Yes, and was invited to join MENSA. I was smarter then than now.

jhota 03-27-12 04:30 PM

yes.

Me too. This was in college, and they were glad when I came back to get the results. Copying jsharr's answers really helped until we got to the picture part where everything looked like a delicious bass or an 220V extension cord.

Wordbiker 03-27-12 05:30 PM

I tested negative.

Shimagnolo 03-27-12 05:45 PM

I also failed the Voight-Kampff test.:(

RubenX 03-27-12 05:53 PM

Meh... I don't believe in these tests. My son takes them all the time and I don't think results are accurate.

skijor 03-27-12 06:07 PM

Yes, but I'm not much of a poet.

They only asked me one question, they said -- who are you? And I got 75% on that!

pgoat 03-27-12 06:39 PM

Apparently I did, in HS (I found a record years later in some old papers when my mom sold her house), but I have no recollection of taking it, and no one told me what I was taking, I guess. Unless they did and I was just stoned immaculate at the time?

What was the number? Mine was 165.

JonnyHK 03-27-12 06:46 PM

The Church of Scientology is big on them. You can get one for free down there...

...if you can get out of there afterwards.

20grit 03-27-12 08:33 PM

They stopped doing them in schools here. I've only ever done the dinky online ones.

Artkansas 03-27-12 10:26 PM

But I didn't take it! My mother gave it to me.

She didn't give me a score, but said that at age 12, I tested out at the level of an 18 year old. That's what you get when your mom's a grad student in psychology.

I don't know if the tests are standard here in FL. My kid takes them all the time as a result of my battle to move him from the "Special Diploma" program into the regular one.

Lamplight 03-28-12 12:03 AM

I took one at the same time as my cat, and I'm proud to state that my score was TWICE as high as hers! Dumb cat.

Mine was smarter than yours (Snickers has since passed on to the Great Catnip Field in the Sky):

Sure, a long time ago in public school, but since then, most test are no longer IQ or aptitude tests, but are instead achievment tests, trying to measure what you've learned or been taught and avoiding now trying to decide what you are capable of learning.

Typical (USA) IQ tests are listed here: http://www.am.us.mensa.org/Content/A...yingScores.htm

But its more or less a waste of time, because IQ isn't really a predictor on being happy or wealthy or successful/satisfied, it just means you can take that kind of test well (mostly math and language skills) and leaves out 4 or 5 other important types of ability. So, it's just a number and it has a statistical distribution across a population. The one potential use may be to have a look at having a close number prior to entering a long term relationship with a same-species partner, but really, who's going to end something that feels right based on an IQ test result?
