Seems like cycling has given me good lungs for running. I've run maybe 40 miles in the last 12 months (2 half marathons, and 4-5 training runs...I wasn't training since I ran the halfs with my wife at her pace), but the 5k training run was 19:30 or so. I'd like to start running again this year, but the cycling has proved to be too hard to cut back on.

I can tear up a 5 K like it's nobody's business. Like 25-30 minutes! That's damn near record pace isn't it?

I can also drink lots of beer, and deal out euchre in my sleep. wait...that has nothing to do with cycling....my bad.

I'm a former cross-country runner and still run to cross train during the winter.

I can hit about 17-18 minutes over 5k when I'm in shape.

Foo.

WTF does this have to do with cycling? BTW, back in the day I could easily put out a 5 min mile. I don't even want to think about what it would be now.

How was that? Those things look so cheezy, but also maybe a bit of fun. Is the warrior dash the one that is chip timed?

After 3 weeks of running 3x a week (The first running I'd done in about 6 months,) I did a 17:58 in training for a duathlon last August.

I'm definitely built more to be a runner, and it comes very naturally to me, I just don't enjoy it.

My best during my crossfit days was 18:20'ish. I never really enjoyed running though - always found I was forcing myself to go.

This body refuses to run without an incentive, like an irate husband with a shotgun behind it.

Ran a 10k in the Army, about 48:30, bout 1988; figure from that, I could likely have done a 23:00 5k.

Can't even DO a 5k now, back won't take it.

+1. When I first met Mrs Buddha 20+ years ago I ran 5 miles a day cross country. Then I realized running is boring and painful so why bother. Cycling is much more fun.

when I ran a lot in my mid 20s I had a PR that was just shy of breaking 8 minute miles, so my 5ks were somewhere around 25 minutes or whatever... That was my goal - a sub-8:00 5K...but I got fat and old before I got around to it.

My personal best was about 23 minutes but that was a few years ago. Haven't tried running since I put all the weight back on after getting sick of the gym being useless, and despite losing all of it and then some by cycling I never felt the urge to run.

I can "jog" that in 31 minutes. I havent tried racing it tho. Personally, I despise jogging/running with a passion, it's just one of the most mind-numbingly boring activities and the only thing I can think of during the run is how much my body hurts and how much I hate it.

Now, give me a bicycle, and I can be blazing with the wind for hours!

Considering how badly my knees react to that sort of impact, about thirty seconds.......before I collapse in agony on the ground and have to be carried away.
