The best and worst of your weekend

Best, going to church followed closely by getting some organizing done on my garage workbench

Worst, letting anger get the better of me when dealing with behavioural issues with my boys. Need to do some soul searching and realingment there.

I had a good weekend. I spent alot of time with people who have the same disease I do.

When I got home, Inge bit me.

Best is a tie:
1) a 30 mile tandem ride with my beautiful wife where she started demonstrating the beginnings of a roadie mindset. And where she admitted she enjoys it as much as I do.
2) Celebrating 8 years sober with a bunch of good people. And strengthening the foundation of core beliefs that allows me to have the life I have.

Worst: Getting to grab a pitchfork and turn the compost pile. I love the smell & feel of that rich dark soil! Had to train & deadhead the rosebush that is on steroids because its planted right next to the compost pile. (this is, of course, a quality "worst" and I know this)

What can I tell ya? Even the bad stuff was pretty good!

Best: Went fishing at the river
Worst: The fish weren't biting, probably due to the 100 or so other people and their dogs frollicking in the freaking river.

Best: Taking the whole fam to see ADRL Cars race at Maple Grove track.....freaking awesome!
Worst: Taking care of my SO after he had an allergic reaction to pistachios. Looked like bees stung both his eyes shut.

Best: My sister-in-law actually hung out with the kids and me when my wife (her sister) wasn't around. She is exceptionally introverted, so this was a huge undertaking and flattering that she wasn't creeped out by me when her sister wasn't home.

Worst: The 3 year old was "wrestling" with the 14 month old (i.e. using him as a punching bag) and left several bruises on the baby's face! I couldn't get there in time. Ugh.

Worst: Prepping/eating/sleeping/training/resting/freaking out to ride Mount Doom on Saturday - only to hear my buddy's rear spoke go 'ka-boingg!' as we rode to the starting point.

best: going home and doing all the maintenance all my bikes have been sorely in need of for weeks/months/years...doing a solo ride at a relaxed pace while tweaking and dialing in saddle position and shifting...coaxing the wife back onto her bike Sunday AM, helping her get through a good comeback ride, spending the rest of the afternoon with her, actually doing stuff (birdwatching, shopping, getting dinner, talking, relaxing) instead of spending all Sunday groaning about how tired I am from Saturday's ride...

Actually that positive vibe carried into Monday morning - my legs haven't felt that fresh on a commute in a long time...guess I needed the rest. Still got in almost the same amount of miles this weekend, just minus about 5000 ft of climbing!

best: 28 mile ride friday night after work, temp at 42 degrees and a little windy. Then watched an episode of Frozen Planet.

worst: studying and doing work the rest of the weekend. I took a break to grocery shop and clean some dishes.

Oddly, your worst and mine are the same, jsharr... but we only have one boy and he's 2.

The best: going out for a walk and ending up walking to the Mongolian BBQ place for dinner... I now realize that toddlers and mongolian BBQ are a perfect combination. Instant gratification, pick your own food, egg rolls... what't not to like?

Best and worst are the same thing.

Our family has close ties to a landscape contractor. He had more workers than work, since tehy had alerady showed up he was already on hte hook for paying them.

So I ended up with free labor for Saturday.

But that sort of tied me down for the day. I couldn't leave the dogs alone for very long with someone working.

A lot more than I would have done got finished, but some things that involved shopping didn't even get started.

Best part: The evening that began with this dinner in my rather small apartment:

And the next day, and today, for that matter.

Worst part: Trying not to think about it, but knowing I have a lot of work to do when I go back to the office after this long weekend...

Finished a row boat Saturday and put it in the water the first time Sunday, and it didn't sink. Spent last night at a friends house watching TV and remembered why I dont have cable or anything at my house, commercials are the worst.

Is is just my imagination or do they really start making the commercial breaks longer and the amount of movie time shorter toward the end of the movie. Watching Raiders of the lost Arc but I cant remember what channel.

Best: Had a birthday party for my wife's little 9 year old brother.

Worst: Older brother cut his ankle with a chainsaw and is still in the hospital after a couple surgeries. Gets to keep his foot, but it will take a long time before he can walk on it.

Does he have a wooden leg? If so, did he see a tree surgeon! On a serious note, praying for your brother. And we need pics of the chainsaw.

Best: Corner working at the track, watching motorcycles fly by at ~150 mph from 15 feet away.

Worst: The crashes (luckily, only a couple, and only one ambulance ride.)

Best - Watching my son's baseball team end their 4 game losing streak on Saturday. The coach even switched things up at the end with boys playing different positions. My son played catcher for the first time and wasn't half bad.

Made a batch of bbq sauce using a mixture of pureed tomatoes and various peppers that I had frozen last fall. Just winged it and it came out great.

Worst - Accidently killed two of the tomato plants I had started from seed - argh!

Arrrr, if it were wooden they could just replace it!

No pics of the chainsaw. Happened in middle of nowhere, northern Illinois.

Thanks for the prayers. He's out of the hospital in a very stiff cast. My dad is flying out there and he has his significant other to care for him. He's doing much better.

Best: Laying in the sun with my old cat snoozing next to me.

Worst: An ear infection that is being very slow to clear up. The ringing in my ear is hell.

Best - great ride lots of great people. And, tricking a friend into going to see a bike that does not exist at the LBS. In reality it was a new frame and fork he wanted, a complete surprise. A gift from the shop for lots of legal work he has been doing for them. He's going to build a very light, belt drive, SS.

Worst- right before the ride, my floor pump stopped working. Then my compressor stopped working too.

Best: Spending time with my daughters, watching my youngest taker her first ride on her new road bike, spending time with good friends eating and riding, playing with the critters.

What is this worst you speak of ?
