Noggin tattoo?

Good or bad idea. So half my head is pretty bare and I'm sitting here bored. Should I get a tattoo on my skull? It wouldn't be bigger than 2 quarters and once my hair grows it will be covered so that part isn't a big deal.

Summers between years of college I worked in various factories to pay for my next year of schooling. One dude I worked with once had a giant spiderweb covering the back of his head with a black widow in the middle of it and little spiders just below the outer corner of each eye like a teardrop. Yeah, that dude wasn't going to get any job other than at a factory ever again and any time he walked into a place people were going to get a little nervous (he was cool enough though, the guy that made me nervous was the one with still partially scabby fresh prison tats - don't know what he was in for, didn't ask). The thing you have to remember is that most people lose their hair eventually and then you'll be this older dude with some exposed ink from long ago making you look like a punk.

Somehow I've got 664 tattooed over my left ear.

Seems I'm the next door neighbor to the Beast.

I'm not worried about balding. There are so many ways around that. Like wigs. Plus from family genetics everyone has a good patch of hair on their sides. My job right now could care less. My future profession wouldn't hire me but by that time my hair will be long and symmetrical again, unlike the mishap I am dealing with right now. Plus by the time I am a wrinkly old grandma this would be the last thing on my mind.

rules for getting tattooed:
1 - never get something you'd be ashamed to show your grandma
2 - never get something that can't be covered up with "normal" business attire

if you want it, and are comfortable with being able to cover it up when necessary, i say go for it.

1. I don't have any grandparents
2. I always make sure they can be covered

Does that mean yes?

Skull tattoos are never a good idea. Anything above the collar is just a dumb decision.

Gotta agree that tats above the collar are a bad choice. Even if your hair is longer, I'd still be concerned that it would be semi-visible some time in the future when least desired.

That said, I once scared the crap out of a friend of mine by declaring my decision to shave my head and get a tat of a coiled rattlesnake on my skull, head of the snake on my forehead and the rattle down my neck. Apparently I'm a better liar than I thought because she totally bought it. // no tats, not plans to get any.

I say, I think you could pull it off, but still no, for the reasons most of the others have stated.

Everyone thinks they are getting something sweet when they get a tattoo.

They all end up being lame and ugly though.

Stupid question, but does the tattoo have any affect on your hair follicles? I'm mainly thinking in terms of impeding the ability to grow hair in that region, because I doubt it'd affect the color of the hair produced, but that'd be an interesting side effect.
