Help - Honeymoon suggestions

I thought I would never say this but...... I am getting married. We were just told that a friend of her family is going to give us round trip tickets to anywhere in the world.

So I had thought Canada, so we can catch an NHL game and see snow. She doesn't want to go due ot the -9 average temp for March ( this means no fishing for her), and there is a huge chance that there will be no NHL after Jan 15th.

So for the week of March 14th to 18th we are on "honeymoon". Where you yall suggest.

OMG! Do NOT plan your HONEYMOON around a sporting event. For fooksake, do whatever she wants. Honeymoon's are supposed to be romantic and sex-filled. you could go to the carribean and have sex on the beach. eh, I'm not gonna make any suggestions cuz if you're smart, you'll go wherever she wants.

If I could go anywhere for my honeymoon in March, I would pick somewhere warmer than Canada. The Caribbean is always nice, or maybe Tahiti. You could also try Australia or New Zealand.

We are both Hockey fans. I was thinking Canada just to go, it was here idea to catch a real NHL game. all we have watched are the minor league teams that are here in Texas.

Hmm... hockey & somewhere warmer... that's a tough one.

If you really want some hockey, perhaps do a Google search & find somewhere interesting that happens to have hockey... maybe somewhere in Europe? Of course, that time of year, weather won't be super warm.

I'd suggest that you save the hockey trip for another time 'just to go' & pick a place that you wouldn't normally consider for a regular trip... maybe the Carribbean? Aruba? Do a hockey trip for your 1st anniversary or something. Good luck. You're running out of time.

My fiance & I are planning a honeymoon for May, probably in Mexico since we've never been.

But it would suck if the team you were rooting for lost. I mean, that's no way to start out a marriage.

No the season is not cancelled... the players and owners agreed to continue talks so that the season could start. They agreed to disagree til the 15th of this month. If they still agree that they disagree then the season will stop.

When she suggested Cancun, i replied with with my arms raised "MTV....WOOOHOOOO ITS SPRING BREAK....CANCUNNNNNN.... PARTTTYYYYYYYYY....WOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

WE both live life to the beat of a different drummer. Lately if feels like I have been going to the beat of a John Bonham drum solo. I just want to find a location that is somewhere peaceful, but not retirement home.

My brother came through..... He has a friend that just opened a gourmet restaurant. His friend agreed to cook us up one of our favorite meals. I am going to take care of the ordering and payment before so it just coming in, sit down, and enjoy. I plan on doing this the night B4 we leave I am going to take her the night b4 we leave.

And to add to the "I'm a really lucky guy" area... I found out the date on a charity ride, the weekend before we get married. Called my Fiance about it, her replied was "You ARE going to do it , right?"

Thank yall for the suggestions..... I just needed some input, notorious for making the worse posible UBER-Bachelor descision when it comes to the "romance" dept.

Spain, the women in there are fantastic......oops, never mind.

But seriously, if they for are anywhere in the world go to Australia. To go there on your own dime is a might bit expensive and the chances of having the time and resources to go in the near future (I am assuming you are a young couple starting out, planning on making a family etc) is unlikely for your average Joe Couple. If you are loaded, disregard this advice. Besides, you can drive to Canada.

Man I never thought Down Under link that. Thanks.

As for the drive to Canada... that would be put in America's Funniest Videos. Well at least clips. We live here in Pasadena, TX (next to Houston), and I have never seen snow. I would need to borrow enough boat bumpers to surround my truck. Oh no wait I'll just get a rental car.

Australia in March? What, you're going in the fall and all, so risk of rain is not worth it. Well, unless they're having nice fall weather.

Why not Hawaii? I saw a show on the Travel Channel about the volcano parks of Hawaii. It was so overwhelming that I had to add it to my list of must-go places. It is definitely the place for a sexy, romantic honeymoon, but at the same time, if you want to do your sporting activities, you can still do that stuff too- hiking, biking, snorkling and scuba diving, surfing, horseback riding, and did I mention cycling? I heard the cycling is AWESOME there!

Cancun may be run down with these teens, but head out to the islands of Cancun instead. They are cheaper, more intimate, and far away from the hustle of Cancun itself. I spent a few days in Isla Mujeres, just off Cancun. You had to take a ferry to get there... which was maybe about 20 minutes? And I just rented a hammock in a hostel on the top of a building and slept out in the stars. It was good living.

Oh, forgot to mention- there are a lot of great places in Mexico and south of Cancun that are plenty warm and great places to vacation.

Vietnam (in the south) has great vacation spots. I went to a small city north of Saigon accessible only by minivan, and it was right on the coast, and it was great. You could rent out a motorscooter for like 5 bucks tops (gas is like 10 cents to fill up the tank) and ride around, and they had these boats that were fullly staffed with folks and had buffets, and you'd take a boat out and do some island hopping with other tourists, then eat and eat and eat. Later, they had these huge floating tires they would lower out of the boat into the water, and you could laze in the water and drink and/or smoke a bong (not that I advocate drug taking... ).

Hong Kong is also nice- they have great cycling there, plus a funiculari (not sure what it's called in english, is that right?), and great shopping, plus horseback riding.

Thailand has great stops- fly into Bankok and spend a few days exploring the city and taking ferries to the different temples. They have several great temples right in town too you can go to. And Thai massages are GREAT and CHEAP. Then you can head north to Chiang Mai, where you can do elephant rides, swim in the water, snorkle, etc. Thailand has great spots for vacations.

If you really want to be exotic, I would tell you to head to Cambodia and go to the jungle to see Ankor Wat. I can't understand why it's not one of the world's seven wonders.

If you want to see something on the scale of Ankor Wat but just don't want to go to Cambodia, then head to Egypt and see the pyramids. I haven't been, but I've heard good stuff about it. Note: I've heard Cairo is one of the most depressing cities because of the squalor of the poor people that live there.

Finally, if you can do a cruise, go glacier watching in Alaska. I haven't done it, but my aunt goes for like 16 days every year on Royal Carribbean. You get to see the whales and spectacular views of the glaciers floating through.

I've seen photos of some of the temple walls in Cambodia, Burma, and India. And, some of those walls did show stuff that seems sexually suggestive to Westerners. In the Hindu religion, the art seen by Westerners as "perverted" are seen as symbols of Creation itself, as symbolized by the God Shiva, the male lingam, and the female yoni. Unmarried women pray before a temple's lingam, in hopes of marrying and having children.

Anyway, for honeymoons, I am still voting for Brazil. Warm weather. Beautiful beaches. Wonderful people. No 10th graders on Spring Break.
