Left sock right sock???

Someone I know folds their socks out of the laundry as a left sock and right sock. To me a sock is a sock. I'm lucky if I can put together a matching pair. Is this person obsessive compulsive or am I a lazy slob?

Do any of you do the same?

There's a good reason for that sometimes, if you wear the left one on the right foot and vice versa, you risk stretching the whole sock to shape.
This means that the area that used to be stretched where your toes are are now where your pinkie toes are, and the area that wasn't stretched where the pinkie toes were are now being stretched. I have some hiking socks that are made with a differential shape and are labeled L and R.
I too, like to wear the left on the left and right on the right, that ensures that my $400 set of smartwool socks last me a long time. The original set I've been wearing for a decade now without much problems. On flimsier socks, you might want to alternate so that your toes don't wear a hole through the fabric too soon.

I don't really sort for left vs right, but I do always put the socks back into pairs. Pretty easy, since I don't have too many repeat pair.

A $400 pair of socks? Yeesh.

My girlfriend tries to play dress-up with me sometimes because when we met I only owned bike socks and she didn't like the way they looked with dress shoes.

Unless the socks are marked right and left there is no way in heck that I'm going to match them up. Hell, I just throw them all in the drawer and pick out a couple when I need them. Yeah, in the dark sometimes they don't always match up, but I wear long enough pants to hide em anyway.

I don't differentiate between left and right. I just can't stand the seams(if any) being misaligned.

I wear cycling socks 90% of the time(out of the house). The guys/gals at work like my Sock Guy and Lin socks. I just got my wife some Sock Guy socks and she doesn't even have a bike.

Does he twist the left sock counterclockwise when he puts it on?

Trick him. Tell him some cycle tourists have only three socks with them. They rotate one after the other, always leaving one for the wash. different colours for each sock help identify how far they are through a cycle.

I do the left sock/right sock thing. If you wear the wrong sock it's tight on your big toe and there's an uncomfortable lump of sock by your little toe.

Lazy bastards.

It's a set of MANY pairs. But they've lasted me a decade and I'd wager another decade if I take good care of it, it's a sound investment, plus they're a lot more comfy than most.

I don't fold my socks, but I do pay attention to which foot I put a sock on, always paying attention to how it 'feels'. Yes, if I accidentaly grab two socks that 'feel' like leftys I have to go back to the drawer and swap one for a righty. Try asking your socks yourself to see what they 'feel', (note: it's best to do this before you buy them, it sucks to buy a pair of socks that both 'feel' like they should go onto the same foot.)
