Is Ebay full of Bots?

I lose everything I bid on. It seems really fishy to me. Some of the products I bid on haven't have bids on them for days, and then all of the sudden there is someone who outbids me within the last minute. Also, I've been outbid on products as I'm making a bid.

Seems like a joke. Am I missing something?

Yes... online auctions will never work because of how easy it is to create a bot that outbids at the last second for the minimum amount possible. Predicted by Rube ages ago. Either use the "buy now" option if exists, use something else (Amazon?) or get your own bot.

That what I do. I use Myibidder on my Android, works like a charm and keeps you from getting caught up in a bidding war and going over your limit.

How do the snipers differ from just entering a Max bid on ebay?

Max bid gives people time to play around and try to out bid it, people are stupid and don't understand what Max Bid means. Basically the sniper enters your max bid at the last moment, so people can't play the game of slowly increasing their max bid until they surpass yours.

The seller was good, and delivered as promised.

No, it's more fun. Get him start using a sniper program to setup on all of these auctions days in advance, then he will forget about them until he gets the e-mail saying he won.

Actually the last one I won, I had forgotten about it since it was just a set of old rims that I didn't completely care if I won or not. Got the notification while I was working on the six rims I had laying around trying to get two good ones out of my bike trailer. Was kind of nice though, I could stop what I was screwing with and throw all of those old junk ones in the trash can instead.

I should write a sniper program for him...but make it randomly triple the max bid he puts in.

Only noobs use eBay's bidding system. All the action is in the last 6 seconds 'cause that's when the snipers kick in.

I haven't used ebay in almost 10 years. Not worth it.

...or only use it for specialty items that don't have a big following. No, not bike parts. My wife has gotten a few things on ebay for not too much, but they are oddball items no one else wants.

Yes, you can't pay any attention to bids on an item until the last 10 or 15 sec. I have my method for doing it but I have to be there when the auction ends. I miss a lot of stuff because I'm away from a computer or I forget about an auction I'm interested in. I think I can buy items for less than a robot can in a few instances, but the point is that you pick what your maximum price is no matter what and let the robot bid up to that amount for you.
