Anyone celebrate the 4th early this weekend?

I did!!!

My brother and his gf came down for the weekend from Ohio. Friday we went to the DMB concert at Hershey Stadium....96 degrees on the lawn, standing for 5 & 5 1/2 hours in the sticky, sweaty heat. Concert was great but the weather/crowd was horrid.

Saturday I got to shoot a 9mm and a Saiga shotgun, it was awesome! Grilled out, drank some beers, played washer toss, then we started to let off our fireworks and got busted by the local PD. Big bummer.

Nope, to hot and to dry. Most places around here have banned fireworks, though some idiots ignore the ban and are going to burn down someones home.

We have some friends that host a Fourth party every year. They decided to give it a little early this year. Nice.

Beer, BBQ, swimming, lot's of kids that are easy to beat at lawn games, Good Times.

And then a great big old thunderstorm after we got home.

Our municipal fireworks ban takes effect on the 5th, looking ahead to a long Wednesday night.

That's close enough to my house that I can sometimes hear a concert. My youngest was at that concert. Did he behave himself?

We spent way too long putting the GF's new grill together, and plan on breaking it in on the 4th. We plan on avoiding the PD too, but that's another story...

Don't forget to burn the grill off before you put food on it for the first time otherwise the food might have a funny taste. Don't ask how I know that. I spent Canada Day helping a friend move nto her new home. The best part came when her new neighbour dropped over with fresh cookies and home brewed beer. Both were exteremely tasty.

Kinda. Local church sponsored their 'Fire on the Mountain' show on Saturday. We snagged a bag o' burgers from Braum's, got some drinks from Kum&Go, and then parked on the edge of their property as far away from the loudspeaker as possible (to avoid any "preaching").

Don't know if the various communities got together while planning their events, but it's about 50/50. Every town has something planned for either the 3rd or the 4th.

Yep! I took too long to put the darn thing together that we used the old grill to cook yesterdays dinner. I got the new one fired up in time to hear "dinners ready", and burned off some of the leftover oils and manufacturing crud after dinner. I'm going to wash the grills before we use it too, it better work good after all the aggravation we had putting it together. Would it really have been too much to ask to have them labeled the parts left and right or mark which side goes up? I think I could have been done in half the time if we could have put the parts together once instead of having to take them apart of then put them together differently.

Our town did the 4th of July parade on Saturday and the big fireworks last night on the lake. We took the boat out and anchored maybe a tad too close. Small residual debris from the fireworks hit the boat every now and then.

mmm, braum's. well done. i never miss a visit when seeing the folks in owasso. braum's burgers, ice cream and cookies are a last rights kind of meal. if there were a braum's and sonic up here, it would do a lot for red/blue state diplomacy. hell, we could bring peace to the middle east with a braum's in mecca. and that ain't just okie noodlin' either.

Fireworks are pretty much banned everywhere in Colorado due to how dry it has been. No fireworks. Though we will be having a barbeque at my mom's house to celebrate her birthday (she was born on the fourth).

Yes.

My neighbors are decendants of the Lenni-Lenape, I told them I was going to build a garage on their property and they should move their pool.
