Arabica is a type of bean....the other type used for "coffee" is robusta. robusta has a much harsher taste than arabica, but loads more caffeine. Often times, cheaper coffees will be a blend of the two.

Most finer coffees are arabica from various regions. I really enjoy the central american coffees...the climate they are grown in results in a very smooth, well balanced coffee. It often lacks a bit of acidity though, which is why I add some colombian to it....gives the cup a nice "high note" to round it out.

Then you can start getting into the various roasts and how they effect the flavor of the cup....this could turn into a freaking book if I keep going.

I wish we had an Aldi's around here. I got mine at Yoders because my usual place was closed. I usually get Guatamelan or Papa New Guinea. I need to find a cheaper way to buy coffee, it's getting out of control.
