Another pet peeve...

Lights flashing when someone locks their car. Is that the most annoying thing or what? It's like "yes I am the only one in the world and I don't care if my car headlights bother you as its all about me"

Irritating, but not as bad as the horn honking in the middle of the night when the neighbor locks his car.

I agree... if the indicator lights flash (rather than the headlights) that's a really small intrusion to people around and gives a good signal that the car is actually locked. The horn beeping is annoying. People who beep their horns in the middle of the night annoy me.

Should have guessed, you're English. The car horns over there are like a squeaky toy, not even loud enough to bother anyone.

Not to mention that loud "click-clack" as all of the door locks activate at once.

Edit: I see this has been mentioned already.

Eh, what bugs me most are the high pitched chirps that only dogs and I can hear.

Smoke detectors when the batteries get low? I hate those things. Drives my dogs nuts as well.

Our car only beeps if you hit lock twice. And yes, it is annoying.

Mine chirps once for locking and twice for unlocking.

The funny thing is that the car's lock/unlock are so quiet that I don't always hear it (I am a little hearing impaired), but I don't want to hit it twice to make the horn go off, especially in the carport with the kids asleep. So the flashing lights are all I've got.

That's actually really easy to fix. Just go to a junk yard and pull a dual-note horn out of an old full-sized sedan, and put it in your car. My sons both drive Escorts and one of the first thing I did was replace their wimpy single note horns with studly dual note honkers.

The thing that bothers me, especially when I'm on a bicycle, is when someone uses their key fob to unlock a GM vehicle. The marker lights go on (no big deal) but so do the backup lights. So if the car is parked in a head-in parking spot, it looks like they are about to back out. I've taken evasive action more than once because someone unlocked their doors.

I'll tell ya what annoys me. When we go to the drive-in movie there is always some dipwad that wants to start their car and let it run. Now that in and of itself doesn't bother me since they may need to clear their windshield or let the battery charge for a few minutes. It is when their headlights come on when the car is running. Wait til intermission if you can't start your car without the lights turning on.

The lock/unlock chirp is amusing; people think they're so cool with that feature, when in fact they're just shallow and lame.

BOOMING SUBWOOFERS, now....... I've considered spud guns for those ********.
