Sorry you didn't like them. I know a guy that can't stand the taste of bacon. I feel bad for him.

I have a co-worker that brings in a big bag of Chicarrones (Cracklins, Pork Rinds, whatever you want to call them) every week, and I get a handful about every other day or so. They're OK, but not salty enough.

See what Alton Brown has to say about them (and Lard)

Oh, that Alton Brown! He taught me how to carve a turkey and my wife how to hard-boil eggs in the oven, and now he's selling me on lard!

A couple of weeks ago, I was havin' some beers with a buddy who, like me, grew up in the country and had a mom who liked all sorts of food that grosses most people out.

One country-mom food item we were waxing nostalgic about was pickled pigs feet.

I got so hungry for them, I actually stopped at the grocery store on the way home and got a jar. Dem's good eats.

Manggey, you should try them some time. Have a side dish of pickled beet eggs, another favorite of mine.

Cracklins and pork rinds are two entirely different things where I'm from.

Cracklins are what remain after lard has been pressed.

Pork Rinds are fried pork skin.

Pickled pigs feet and sauerkraut was what my Mom threatened to fix when she got too many complaints about what we were having for dinner. That kept us quiet.

I must have been a weird kid. I would ask my mom to buy things like pickled pigs feet, liverwurst, and sardines when she was heading out to the grocery store. Every once in a while I still enjoy a liverwurst and onion sandwich, or a Vietnamese head cheese & pate sandwich...though it keeps my wife away for quite some time.

This. Get the fresh ones from the butcher or your local tortilla factory. Make a stew with them. Delicious but they give you gas.
