She was the true pioneer. She paved the way for all her sisters in comedy from Roseanne Barr to Ellen Degeneres. Truly self-made, she came from nothing. Ironically, her routine was based on self-deprecation, but when she posed for a nude Playboy shoot in the early 60's the photos looked too hot, not funny enough, so Playboy never published them. She wasn't ugly at all. But her real beauty was in how she made America laugh.
