Linux Mint; Anyone use it, and your impressions thus far.

Curious about Linux Mint. Anyone use it, and what do you think thus far?

I have Linux Mint Debian Edition on three boxes right now. It saves me the time to get a good desktop setup on a Debian machine, and it's based on Testing, so there's more modern stuff than Debian Stable. And of course, there is also access to the Debian repos.

I've used it in the past and really like it. Running the latest Ubuntu on my old laptop now, but thinking about switching it to Mint.

I've got Linux Mint running on an old Dell optiplex I "inherited" on the job. So far, I like what I see. I didn't much care for the Unity interface included with
Ubuntu now, but this was easily solved by installing the Gnome desktop.

At some point in the future, I may look into a Dell or Lenovo laptop, and put Mint on it.

I wish more computer manufacturers would offer computers with no OS. I hate paying for one with windows and putting Ubuntu or something on it.

Chris brings up a good point: Doesn't the windows license state that if you disagree with the terms, you may return it for a full refund? If so, how does one go about doing this?
Would you contact the computer maker, or MS directly?

I've used Linux Mint ... in fact, I have a copy running in VirtualBox. I currently run PCLinuxOS on my computers (even as the host of Linux Mint), and I'm the current chief editor of The PCLinuxOS Magazine [sorry ... couldn't resist the shameless plug].

No matter what "flavor," it's great to see other Linux users here!

And if one of the PCLinuxOS guys is a cyclist... well, heck, I'll have to go try it now.

As long as I can get Kerberos 5 and OpenAFS support to work without too much wrangling... and maybe jwm, then I am all for it.
