What did you exchange for her?

What kind of bicycle do you have for her to use?

As a kid, I was so confused about the concept about exchange students. I thought you "traded" one of your kids for one of some other family's kids in a different country for a year (so they just swapped places). It wasn't until much later that someone explained to me that it was about a cultural "exchange" not a physical exchange of people.

Can't believe you are going to break into my house and steal her while I'm at work. And even bragging about it on the forum, real freaking low man.

My wife and I hosted short term (summer) exchange students over a several year period. Some from Japan, France and Finnland. We took one japanes girl to a civil war reenactment. I took the two French boys to a Cowboy Shoot. The group they were with went to ball games, museums and shopping. There was actually very little studying. I drove a bunch of them around Los Angeles one day. Hollywood sign, Manns Chinese Theatre footprints, Chinatown. Their reaction was universally Meh.
