The anger thread

I was on another forum and some guys posts this. We have some internet tough guys here and I thought they might like this.

Would this have gotten you into a fight???

So in my younger day I was quite the hot head. I would swing and had at the drop of a hat or for a wrong glance. I am now 30 years old. I am a SSgt in the Marines. I am a combat vet of both Iraq and Afghanistan. I am in Special operations. Worked years as a bouncer/bartender, dabbled in martial arts, wrestled in college and know I have nothing to prove, and my wife knows I would never throw down just to impress her. I no longer go out looking for trouble and would prefer just to be left alone anytime I am out. I do not consider myself a barroom tough guy.

Well I was out with my wife and her friend at a local bar. Once we went in they went to the bathroom and I grabbed a pool table. As they were walking by some guy said “damn” and turned his head and watched them walk all the way to the bathroom staring them down like a piece of meat. I got his attention and held up my ring and said “ careful that’s my wife” . He simply shrugged his shoulders as if saying I don’t give a S==T. I started to walk over with pool stick in hand. I was out numbered and out sized. There were his 3-5 and all bigger then me. One of the girls in their group grabbed him and another tried flirting with me to get my attention off it. When my wife and her friend cam back I simply said it was time to go and left.

I know I technically did the right thing but I still feel like I let someone get away with disrespecting my wife and her friend. I am sure they would have gotten the better of me and I would have gotten a pretty good beating but not before I took the pool stick across his throat. All I could think about was smashing the pool stick across his face then breaking one of his legs with a strait kick to the knee cap.

So my question is what would you guys have done???

Thanks guys and have a good one.

I would've said she's with me and just smiled.

Obviously this guy has some insecurity issues if he thinks he has to try and protect his wife from going home with another guy.

If my bf would've fought that guy, I would have been pissed.

+1
You have to wonder how many times he's said that himself when a pretty woman walked by and he wasn't with his wife.

If his wife heard the comment I bet she was high-fiving her friend when they got into the restroom.

I didn't read anywhere that he thought he was worried about his wife going home with another guy, just her being disrespected by some *******.

I've let my anger out once when WoCB was in a car wreck. She called me and said the guy was punching her car and window. I lived less than a mile from the accident and went to see what was going on. I walked up to the guy and ask what the issue was and why he thought it was OK to react the way he did. He invaded my personal space and paid the price. I regretted hitting him afterwards, but it happened. Cops showed up and thankfully he didn't press charges. After he left, the cop said he would of done the exact same thing.

I probably would have said something similar. Maybe added a bit of humor to preface it. The other guy was rude and crude, but in all honesty chris....... can you say you've never looked at a fine woman that way?

But you were smart to get out of there, given the situation.

Looking and making a snide comment towards the women are two different things.

I would have to kick my own butt first, for I have looked at her and other women that way.

I would not fight over a look. I would speak up for obvious insulting verbal or physical disrepect, but not just for watching her walk by. If violence ensued, I would like to think I would not instigate or escalate, but I would defend myself.

I'm not the angry guy in the thread, I was just reading it on another forum. And yes, my mouth has got me in to trouble a few times. I know that's hard to believe.

Here in America, where you sound like a furriner, or back in BangersandMashville?

"Damn" is considered a snide comment? I guess if it was said to me I would choose not to be offended by it.

Mostly back in the old country. Alcohol was usually involved. I've always been a bit of a smartass, unfortunately the boy is just like me.

Here in 'merica they just look at me with a confused look, while their women fawn all over me.

I would have done the same thing you did without getting in his face probably. One needs to avoid fights at all costs nowadays... people are very inclined to press charges at the slightest incident. The charges are often dropped, but it's still a hassle. I've only been in two fights. One, I provoked with a "yo momma" joke in 8th grade, refused to fight back and got a busted lip... and the other was when two guys tried to mug me on the way back from a kegger at SIU. Somehow in my drunken haze I managed to break one of their noses before they could get a hit in on me, which I only remembered because of the blood all over my sneakers in the morning, and that was enough to scare both off.

I would have said, "Careful, that's my husband." Then the guy would have been confused, and I would have added, "Yes, I said husband."

Personally I would have avoided being in that situation in the first place, and would have hoped I wouldn't have had to remember more of my martial arts training than just letting it slide.
One of my biker friends used to be a bouncer in a bar with a lot of fights, and he's ended way too many of them that involved people who later regretted what they did when the sobered up. When he gives a party and says don't bring anyone with you that I'll have to throw out people know what he means.

It is not worth the criminal or civil liability. I only take direct physical action in the defense of myself or others in response to a tangible physical threat. Idiots mouthing insults do no reach this standard.

I find it strange that one would take "damn" as mouthing an insult. Then wanting to beat him with a pool stick because he shrugged his shoulders and filled in the words he wished he could have heard so that he coud get his arse beat by a group of guys.

As far as iditos, what kind of guy takes his wife to a bar, knowing drunk guys are present and expects them not to look or thiks that they won't? Now that is an idiot!
