If added volume is the key to understanding unfamiliar language, how come I still can't understand Robert Plant when I crank Led Zep?

I don't speak to people who don't speak American. Being an American I expect everyone in the world to speak my language.

I speak Texican. Ya'll can talk as loud as ya need to get your point across. A cattle prod, patience and perserverance are also good things to bring with you.

Which 'merican?
There's southern (the only proper American language).
Then there's yankee.
There's out west (totally tubular).
and well, Texas.

I speak English or at least a close representation thereof. So does the wife. However, like being separated from our British cousins by a common language, I don't understand what she is saying sometimes so she does speak louder. It really gets annoying. I have to keep turning the volume up on the TV to hear it.

I get spoken too louder than I would expect to when I shop at the Polish grocery store. I'm not sure what they're trying to tell me most of the time, but they seem to think the extra volume helps.

Prarie duster/southern hayseed drawl is an accepted American dialect.

Louder doesn't work. I keep yelling at people "I need a YOB!" but they never call me for interviews. :\
