Back in the day I worked as a helper in a grocery store, we'd wrap ugly, damaged, individual or brown bananas like this and put them in the frozen food department near the ice cream. They'd almost always sell.

For some reason people would not buy groups of individual fresh bananas, or single bananas. The orphans almost always went bad before they sold.
