CR@P!! friggin phone fell out of my jersey pocket

So, I found out the hard way my bike jersey has a hole in the pocket I put my phone in this morning. I wondered what that noise was... I just thought I ran over a metal plate or something. So, sprint customers, what are my options? I don't have insurance on the phone. I've already called Sprint to have them suspend my line. Crap crap crap crap crap!

Maybe it's time to switch phone companies, anyone happy with their service? I'm not sure I like Sprint very much. I've been with it for a long time. Seems expensive. Get lots of dropped calls. Coverage isn't the best in certain areas. But, it's has an unlimited data plan. It might be worth it to simply cancel my plan, and go with something else, instead of pay for a new phone (I'm not on schedule to get a new phone for over a year). Did I say crap already?

True.
This morning, while in the elevator on the way up to my office, I saw 3 people staring intently into their little smartphones. They all had this distant, empty minded look on their faces. It was then, I decided that zombies are real, and smartphones are the cause of it.

The same thing happened with my camera a few weeks ago. Thought it was ok, but now it won't focus properly at full zoom. &*#!@%!!

Will now be periodically performing physical integrity checks on my jersey pockets.

It's the same thing when I go home for the holidays...all the younger kids are at the table staring intently at their phones. *GAG*

I'm on Sprint for another 7 or so months with the typical expensive smartphone plan. Really sick of $80+ a month. However, I'm planning on switching to ting (no contract) soon. I'm done with 2-year contracts after this. Ting uses Sprint's network....it's been good for me. Sometime in Q4 2012, owners of Sprint phones will be able to port their number to Ting. I'll save $30-40/mo for essentially the same service. My 2.

Do you need the unlimited plan (not easy to get on other networks)?

It would seem that either you'd have to pay a termination fee (and you might have to return the phone) or you are eligible for a phone upgrade. If you are looking at getting an expensive phone, you'd have to pay something for it on another network.

What phone is it? I would see if they would help with an upgrade or if you are eligible for an upgrade and if not, I would see about refurbished phones. I paid AT&T $20 for my refurbed Samsung Infuse.

Yeah, see, I'm not real sure if I need the unlimited data plan. At first when I got my smart phone, I was super geeky about it. Now I'm not sure if I care too much about it. Much easier to just go to my pc and use that instead. Not real sure what I want to do. I'm thinking if I find a plan that's cheap enough, I could recover the early termination fee. So what happens if I can't get my phone back to Sprint? Are they gonna make me pay for the friggin' thing or something? I wouldn't be surprised.

Just logged into our Sprint account and there are quite a few smart phones under $50. No HTC Arrives though. In sliders under $50 there is a Kyocera Rise for $20, a Kyocera Milano for $0 and a Samsung Transform Ultra for $50. So you should be able to replace it for free it appears. Do you have the data backup plan with Sprint? If so, your transistion to a new device could be somewhat simple.

just get a simple cell phone - phone & text - new/used, whatever, e-bay? the expensive part of your current plan is probably the data for the smartphone. If you have an old cell phone lying around (from your last upgrade), just have Sprint re-activate it.

I have a basic Sprint plan for 29.95 a month, 200 free minutes and haven't come close to using them all yet. I'm not a very social person and most talking seems like a waste of time to me. (At least when I hear it from the people around.)

Weekends and after 9 pm are free too. I don't think that plan is available any more, but I'm grandfathered into it. No texting or data transfer included. Sprint is the only company that has decent coverage in the area I'm in.

I thought it was odd when email came in, and people started typing instead of talking, like it was an advance. I went along with that one, but texting is just not going to happen.

That is how I lost my glasses. Forgot to zip the bag after reading a map and putting my sunglasses (single far sight RX lens only) back on.

I saw one like that walking towards me on the bike path this morning. He became very unzombielike when he realized paying attention to the outside world was a better idea.

And never carry a cell phone in your jersey pocket. Worst place you can carry one because of you are in an accident, there is a good chance you are going to end up smashing your cell phone so it will not work when you need it the most.

I had my Casio Commando on a Ebay handlebar mount riding down a gravel road at about 25 mph when the mount failed and the phone went crashing and tumbling down. I turned around and picked up the phone. No scratches on the glass and a couple minor ones on the corners, works perfectly. Im glad I passed up the 4g and went with this phone. It is tough as nails. When it gets dirty, I rinse it off under the sink (its waterproof too), and you should see the looks I get.

Go online, get the insurance added, then make a claim that you lost it the next day.
