Well, my kids are gonna be upset in the morning...

Blue Bell Creameries has a plant not too far from here. Every year, they do a 'Taste of Summer' event- $5 a head gets you a tour of the plant, taste/eat as much of their samples as you care to stand in line for (pretty much their full product line), face painting and body art for the kids, a car show, local fire department with one of those house on fire simulator trailers, live music... basically, a bunch of family/kid friendly stuff for cheap.

Usually, it takes place in June. This year, however, they didn't hold the event in June. Partly due to the fact the heat the last couple of years has just been brutal, but also since the plant is turning 20 years old tomorrow, they decided to merge the usual Taste of Summer with their Anniversary Bash. And they announced that there would be no cover charges this year- totally free.

They cancelled it 3 days ago when the 5 day forecast called for rain on Saturday.

Personally, I think they scheduled this prior to the 2012 NCAA football schedule being released- OU vs Texas is tomorrow- and the execs are using the weather as an excuse to catch the game.

I should be offended, but I'm not. I haven't really followed the Sooners since Jason White was the QB. I haven't so much as watched a quarter, let alone an entire game, of NCAA or NFL in roughly 4 years- not even the Superbowl.

Why not take them to jsharrland and collect on all the free ice cream he's been promising us for votes? They're welcome to mine, I'm holding out for a nice delicious bass.

I was wrong. You should be getting all in my face about this embarrassment to Texas. Mack Brown should face the firing squad.

You should just drive them on over to Turkey Hill and take a tour.

Oh man, don't say that too loud or you will be excommunicated from OK! NCAA i can understand, but the SB?? How does that happen? Well i guess it'd be a good day to hit an amusement park.

No1mad can come on over to Arkansas if that happens. We have our own football religion, but its okay if you are an agnostic.

Superbowl? The only reason to watch it is for the ads, and thanks to the web, you can see them ahead of time. Superbowl is a great time to go to a movie.

FWIW, the kids were bummed- especially seeing as it didn't start raining until like 2-3 hours after the event was scheduled to wrap up in the first place. As a consolation prize of sorts, we all went out to Cici's Pizza and they got some new socks, underwear, and shoes- the girl has 3 new pair of shoes and the boy has a pair of sneakers and a pair of dress shoes.
