i thought there was a bigger thread talking about this show

anyhoo

i have recently watched duck dynasty for the first time
and it is awesom

easily the best reality show on tv
instead of eight people in a house trying to outdo eachother in assholery
they are family and friends having good natured competitions
and trying to treat eachother with respect

it has a certain scripted feel to it at times
but not really more than most reality shows
and it sort of gives it an
american trailer park boys
vibe

also
the best character on the show is
uncle si the vietnam vet

I am a Texican redneck, which is only slightly up the evolutionary ladder from Cajun redneck, so I can speak with authority that a denizen of our frosty northern neighbor lacks. We will defer to you on matters dealing with tea or crumpets or finger sandwiches, but leave the judging of the rednecks to those who can judge most effectively. Good Day Sir.

which i suppose it kinda is

willie would be julian
big picture man who seems to know what he is doing
but is not really all that likable

jase would be ricky
second in command and comes off as having a little more street smarts
if not book smarts
and is more likable

and si would be bubbles
the misfit who occaisionally proves he is smarter then the rest

the seldom seen employees
could be corey and trevor

miss kay is barb lahey

You lose points for the bizarre formatting. Makes me think I am reading slam poetry, not foo.

and good day to you

your obvious emotional attachment to certain cast members
has blinded you to the truth

i would bet this is because jase reminds you of your pa
and si reminds you of your ma

and you resent your ma
because
she burned the biscuits on sunday
or left too many bones in the catfish
or only cleaned the trailer when the lady from the welfare came a callin

I am envious of their ability to use explosives in dealing with pond rodents commonly known as beavers. While effective, I doubt my neighbors would be pleased with ginormous explosions occuring in close proximity.

Jase>Si>Phil

And good day, eh! Ya hoser.....Sir! (Had to translate that into Canadian.)

And a bit of trivia...Phil turned down the NFL when the Pittsburg Steelers drafted him as quarterback, preferring duck hunting. Also, Terry Bradshaw was his backup in college. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...eelers-history
