upcoming holidays

What do you want?
Personally, I just want a day of peace and quiet (I won't get it).

How about a holiday with out all the hype... after the election crap I am really tired of "the hard sell."

I had a low key holiday back a couple decades ago when I bike toured Baja during most of December... there were small decorations here and there and a whole lot of reverence... it was really nice. Too bad here in the states we are inundated with commercialism for the holidays.

I'd rather not be with my parents. But that's the way it's going to be.

No drama... no hysterics... no hassels... no hype...no politics... I just want to sit back and relax and enjoy the beauty of the season (and get some riding in)... means I stay away from my family until after the first of the year...

I would love to stay at home for the holidays just once. Not gonna happen. Probably will be the usual, 2 days at my folks', 3 days at her folks', 2 days at mine (calendar days more at mine, but time about equal because my days include travel) with at least two trips of >1hour each one on some of those days. Didn't enjoy it before we had our 20 month old and it wreaks hell on her schedule. Plus, we'll be moving roughly 1000 miles ~10 days before Christmas and start new jobs Jan 2. I'd just like some freaking down time for Christmas.

Because you have a toddler and everyone wants to see her I give you a pass but always remember we create our own drama and hassle... "NO thank you" is a powerful phrase. You can stand home and make your own memories...

I make bacon several days a week, I just do not eat it. In lieu of the bacon, I have turkey sausage crumbles and egg whites. I should really stop giving bacon to the boys and make them eat what I eat as well.......

When my brother and I were young, my parents would travel for Thanksgiving to see my fathers family, but we would spend Christmas at home. Dad says Christmas is for the kids. Our home was open to any relatives that wanted to come, but the psharrs had Christmas at home. jsharr has adopted this method from my father and the jsharr clan will not be traveling for the Yuletide. We will spend Thanksgiving with my parents and we will vist my mother in law at the memory care facility.

We visit my MIL for Thanksgiving, and tend to stay home at Christmas. With the wife's new job, her last day of work for 2012 is 12/21, and her first day of work for 2013 is 01/02. Since she has so much time off, and my dad has a week at his time share that needs to be used, I'll probably take vacation the week of Christmas and we'll go somewhere. I should probably book something now if we're going to do that.
