Eat Your Hearts Out Up North.......

I moved recently to South Florida, and it's 70 degrees right now, and I'm sitting out on the screened in porch working in shorts and sandals, after a nice dinner of pork chops, done on the grill, and fresh green beans. Next week, I'm planting tomatoes for a winter crop, and I have a banana tree in my back yard, as well as a couple orange trees and lemon and lime trees, and I can harvest fresh papayas right now..

Bwahahahahahahahahaha!

Oh, and I went bass fishing today, and caught a 7 pound largemouth. Guess what's for dinner tomorrow night from the grill? I have it marinating in a citrus marinate right now.

Good for you! I love Florida in the winter.

I haven't found largemouth to be particularly good eating. Is there a secret to the marinade or am I just wrong about largemouth?

There's a secret in the marinade, and the temp, and using the right wood with the coals in the grill. Dn't cook the bass too dry. Done right, Largemouth Bass is succulently sweet fish.

Lucky. I don't wish to completely avoid winter, but it'd be nice to be able to vacation more during it. A couple years back I went to mexico for a couple weeks during the winter and the heat was near overwhelming, but it was amazing of course.

It was 16 deg C (61 deg F) here in Southern Ontario today. Not too bad ... but not quite shorts weather. I'm definitely jealous Tom.

70 degrees? I'd enjoy that if it were about 20 degrees cooler. Like it is here.

Yes, got sailboat.. We actually had planned to spend the winter on the boat, but health issues blew up those plans, so I bought a place here, and voila.....we live in Fla.

Welcome Fearless Leader, to the great Sunshine State.

How far down south? Which coast, east (the one with the sharks) or west (the one with the oil spills)?

We've got a winter place in SE Florida, but unfortunately, I won't be able to get there this winter for more than a week or so. This "making a living" thing puts a damper on just plain "living". I've got maybe four or five years before I can post something similar. Enjoy the bass!

I'm actually in in land a little ways, Ruben. I'm about 20 miles from the Atlantic coast on the Port Saint Lucie canal.
