Yeah that looks like my mtb commuter knobby on the front tire (no studs) - kinda sketchy. Looks like he's getting some traction on the back - interesting to see if there are studs on that as well. However it is rather fun to go out and mess around after a lot of snow with my off roader in VIRGIN snow (meaning - no snowplows) and it's thick and it's fun! Also fun to wheel into my backdoor a bike that is just full of packed snow - melt down in the kitchen!!!!! Didn't do that last year, but it will happen this year!!
I just put my studs on and I can get through ice/snow pretty well (studs are worn - really need new tires this year - am thinking about that), but I have to deal with here in the city - on the side streets is ankle deep non plowed crap sometimes full side streets, but mostly at the ends of the streets. I usually ride with one foot off the clips so I can skate through. And THAT can be sketchy as well! I get real happy with the City at that time, hehe
