Anyone else let down by the new Lincoln movie?

Man, I hate to say it but I did not like the new Lincoln movie at all. I actually fell asleep in the middle and seriously considered just leaving. As an American history buff I was really looking forward to this movie. I am not some dummy who just wants explosions and car chases...but I figured that a Spielberg movie about Lincoln would be more exciting and interesting. If you love political intrigue and LOTS...and I mean LOTS of dialogue, then this is your movie. From the moment the movie begins it is almost non-stop talking.

Haven't seen it yet but was really looking forward to it. Sounds like a midpoint Redbull will be in order..

I read a complaint that it was a deification of Lincoln, he is portrayed as having no faults whatsoever.

Don't know what you are talking about... it was the most historically correct movie I've ever seen, it kicked arse and it fully explain why we don't have vampires in America. All hail Lincon, Amen.

I thought it was excellent... There isn't a lot of action in the movie, but there is some great dialog that's very important for what's going on in todays day and age, and Day Lewis did some beyond amazing work impersonating the president.... That actor is simply great.

They left out the part of Lincolns speech when the Confederates bombed Pearl Harbor Rube

Appearance is spot on and although most of us don't know of the way he spoke besides written descriptions and research, he really conveyed a very beleavable character.

My wife and I both liked the movie. The underlying subject matter is a bit depressing (civil war and slavery).

That's ironic since Lincoln himself was a man who believed in economy of language.

    Excellent!

Same reason why I hated TITANIC...the ending was a foregone conclusion!

We loved it. We were in DC when it was released, and went on a walking tour of his movements the night of the assassination. It was not intended to be an action flick, perhaps that was the source of your disappointment.
