We lost a good puppy today :(

My sister had to euthanize her doggeh Maxie today. Max was a wonderful dog and a very obedient beagle. She has had health issues for years and it eventually took its toll.

Sorry to hear this Couch. Here's what a buddy of mine told me when I lost a beloved dog:

"Nothing quite as rewarding as bonding with a dog, nothing quite as painful as losing them. They touch us in ways we can't describe or often even understand."

I'm sorry to hear that Couch. Pets really are members of the family. I hope your sister is doing alright (all things considered).

That is sad to hear Couch! That's the thing with being in a pack, the loss of one hurts all. Getting a new addition to the pack as soon as possible would be helpful in the healing process. That is how it should be.

I'm very sorry Couch. It's a shame that our pets lives are so short. He looks like he was an old sweetie.

Sounds like Maxie had many happy years with your family. I've been a wreck the two times I had to take a pet in for that. I hope you fair better. I trust you have many more pics to remember her by?

I haz sad. Maxie looks like a twin to my old pup Blackjack, which was in the situation a few years back. Beagles are great.

So sad, we had to put down BOTH of our dogs this past summer, geez, how do we let these little beasties in our hearts so far? I cried like a baby for a few days whenever I thought about them. Damn dusty office, now I have to blow my nose

So sorry for your loss. When I lost mine, a friend sent me this... for anyone that says he was just a dog:

Just My Dog
by Gene Hill

He's just my dog.
He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds;
my other ears that hear above the winds.
He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea.

He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason
for being by the way he rests against my leg;
by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile;
by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him.
(I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not
along to care for me.)

When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive.
When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile.
When I am happy, he is joy unbounded.

When I am a fool, he ignores it.
When I succeed, he brags.

Without him, I am only another man.
With him, I am all-powerful.

He is loyalty itself.
He has taught me the meaning of devotion.

With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace.
He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant.

His head on my knee can heal my human hurts.
His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and
unknown things.

He has promised to wait for me...
whenever... wherever--
in case I need him.
And I expect I will-- as I always have.
