Would You Rather?

Receive 1 Million for yourself to use however you want

OR

Receive 10 Million to give away as donations (can't be given to friends or family members either)

The 100% honest answer is that I would take the million for myself. Yes, I could do a lot of good with $10 million but a million cash would change a lot of things in my life, like paying off my law school loans, paying off my kids education, allowing my wife whom I love to quit the job she hates. Yeah, I would take the million.

No.

I'm really surprised at the answers, I thought more people would pick give away 10 mill. I would have to agree, a million to keep would help our family a lot. Secure college funds, get a nice little house.

I could use 1/4 of that to pay off everything we owe, set up college funds for both boys and put the rest in retirement fund. The other 3/4 I could give away. Realistically, i would do 50/50 at best and probably not even that.

But it would change my family's lives for sure.

I would take the $ 10 million to give as donations. I would donate to healthcare and social services organizations that provided services in the United States, and directed at least 75% of such donations to actual services, rather than overhead.

Then I'd take the $1 million, and likely end up giving most of that away.

I consider myself very fortunate. I have my health (mostly... after 40 things start fading LOL), I have a good career, I own a nice little 860 sq ft home that is more than enough for my family. I don't have the need to be a millionaire, especially with the knowledge that there are folks out there struggling to put food on the table for their children.

I would much rather have my 2011 back than one from the 80s.

See, you need that brain transplant because the 80s sucked balls.

I know the 80s sucked balls. Why do you think I wanted to get you one from the 80s?

God, you are dumb.

I'd take the 10 million and setup a foundation with myself as director!

On hte serious side of donating money. I can think of 4 (So far) local organizations I'd like to support. But in every single case there would be effort involved with making sure the funds went where I wanted them to. 2 cases was groups associated with where I went to college and the issue would be making sure the college did not circemvent my intent. One other is a local club, and the issue would be making sure the next and all future elections were not power grabs.

The last is a local animal care group. Even there I'd want accountability.

Giving money is not all that easy.
