Host Chris Rock Shock: Only Gays Watch Oscars

HOST CHRIS ROCK SHOCK: ONLY GAYS WATCH OSCARS

ACADEMY MEMBERS ALARMED OVER CHOICE OF COMIC

**Exclusive**

Veteran members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have grown concerned over the choice of Chris Rock as host of this month's awards show, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

Concern deepened after Rock claimed only gays watch the Oscars!

"I never watched the Oscars. Come on, it's a fashion show," Rock recently declared.

"What straight black man sits there and watches the Oscars? Show me one!"

Rock added: "Awards for art are f---ing idiotic."

MORE

Academy members have privately called for Chris Rock to be removed as host, sources claim, fearing Rock may "tarnish" the reputation of the Academy.

"Simply put, this is a disgrace," one veteran Hollywood mogul, who asked not to be identified, said from Los Angeles.

"This guy is out there saying 'awards for art are f---ing idiotic' and he is hosting the show produced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences? I guess the joke is on us!"

One nominated actress questions whether producer Gil Cates was even aware that Rock has "never watched the Oscars."

Other unpublicized comments made by Rock threaten to throw the scheduled Feb. 27 broadcast into complete chaos.

During a recent hate-filled rant, Rock imitated a White House press briefing:

"Mr. President, what about gay marriage? 'F**k them ******s,'" Rock said of Bush.

What will Rock be wearing to the show?

"Nothing against people who aren't straight, but what straight guy that you know cares? Who gives a f---?" Rock explained.

And there are people shocked by this?!

I tend to agree with the "Awards for art are f---ing idiotic" line. Awards only cheapen art. On the other hand, passing off some of the stuff that came out of Hollywood last year as art...

Probably doesn't help your awards show ratings when the host trash talks them though

Awards people are idiots. Haven't they heard that bad press is better than no press?

How will Rock's comments stop anyone who was going to watch from watching?

In fact, I had absolute zero (0K) interest in watching. If Rock is gonna make it fun, well, I still won't make an effort to watch, but if I'm flipping by, I'll watch for a minute.

Awards ceremonies are absurd. Televised awards ceremonies are even worse. As if these people don't get enough money and adulation already.

The only award ceremony I've watched since I was a kid was when Andrew Denton hosted the Logies (Australia's television awards) and even then it was only the first few minutes when he was wandering amongst the twitteratii ripping seven kinds of **** out of them - in a good natured and very PG13 way of course. I don't think they asked him back the next year.

These people take themselves and their little awards far too seriously. That's rich pickings for humour, particularly of the kind favoured by Rock. If he hosts, and they get rid of all the 'and the nominees are...' fluff, and ban all those tedious acceptance speeches, it might actually be entertaining. I still wouldn't watch it though.

George Carlin would be an even awesomer host.

How about a new format to attract the straight guys?

> Screen each nominee's moment(s) on film for a maximum of 15 seconds (nudity, explosions and gratitious language encouraged)

> Winner is determined by sound pressure level of audience (whether by cheering, clapping, booing or screaming)

> Acceptance speech replaced by throwing Oscar at winner - Oscar must be returned if the winner fails to catch it

> Quarter time and half time shows involving rock music and/or wresting and/or nubile women in attire which you would never let your daughter wear

It'll boost numbers - it might even be a competitor to the football finals!
