Try using insert video instead of link.

when I searched for that tune on YT i found clips of them lip synching on a German TV show around the time that first LP came out. Bizarre - the bass player was using one of Jimmie's Strats - I guess he figured "wtf, i'm not really playing anyway!" The really weird thing is, as happens with many TV lip-synched appearances, it looks/sounds like Kim is actually singing live....but there's no microphone in sight. Maybe they had a mix with an alternate vocal track they used for TV? Although it's not like they were making a gazillion appearances on the tube, iirc.

In any case, great band. I used to get ridiculed all the time for telling people I liked JV's minimalist 'econo-style' better than Stevie Ray, great a player as SRV was. And just liked the FT much better as a band.

Jimmie's playing has more feel...SRV was a technical tour de force, but it just lacked something Jimmie and some other less technical players have.

yes. I mean, no question that SR was the far more accomplished musician - he was a monster. Jimmie is even a little clumsy or stumbling at times. But there's something about his phrasing that's just riveting when he's on his a game. I think a lot of it has to do with leaving space, which creates more impact in the notes you do play.

Both brothers really knew their blues, for sure, they tapped into the sources, directly. SR imo was a very good phraser and he did know how to use space, but he just played so many notes, all the time, it could get overwhelming.

I'll add I was swayed by Jimmie's style from day one - he had that urban blues pimp G Love thing down, which spoke to me far more than SR's Hendrix gypsy look. Not as important as the music, but it's part of the equation...
