    Unintentionally funny old TV

    So, the meaning of words can change between generations. For example, when Mr. Burns says he had a lot of "gay" times when he was young, he may not take this expression to mean the same thing as Mr. Smithers.

    Here is a visual example of this phenomenon. Zelda is trying to educate Dobie Gillis. He's too dumb to remember the way home, so she comes up with a clever way to help him remember. I think you'll find this easy to remember as well:

    Yeah, they could have as easily chosen the name David.

    Certainly Zelda knew about those 'gay' times.

    I always liked the Firesign Theater's riff on 'Dobie Gillis', Porgie and Mudhead. It starts at about 6:00. But the first 6 minutes are great too.
