I don't even know what channel it's on. I don't like much of today's music, much less the videos.

I remember when MTV started. I liked to watch video after video. I remember a vid by Tom Petty was one of my favorites, along with "I'm Special" by The Pretenders, Bryan Adams singing while a girl in a bikini jumped into an empty swimming pool. I also thought some of the original V-Jays were interesting- Martha Quinn and Nina Blackwood.

I'm guessing music vids don't drive music sales like they did in when MTV played music [in the 80's]. And therefore, it's not cost effective to produce as many music vids? I wouldn't know now. Couldn't tell you the last time I bought new music in any format. Now get off my lawn.

The first time I saw MTV was on a hotel TV back in the 80s. It had to be pre 1983 as we were on a trip from Dallas to Corpus to visit my grandparents, so within a year or two of that fateful day in 1981 when MTV introduced the world to The Buggles.

The last time I saw the music video version of MTV was the early 80's. I'm somewhat philosophically opposed to music videos anyways. I think they interfere with your own interpretation of the music. YouTube took over the role of music video releases.

Unfortunately, they also spread the influence of Pauley Shore.

I used to think the poplarizing of Jenny McCarthy was a fair trade off for more Pauly Shore exposure, but I was a dumb teenager then. Now she's gone psycho anti-vaxer with a quadruple digit body count (sorry if that strays into P&R territory) and I've grown nostalgic for Encino Man and Son-in-Law (though much of the latter is due to the fact that I still think Carla Gugino is kind of hot).

Back then, I worked at a start-up film colorizing company. Their first colorized product was the colorizing on this.

Later they became Ted Turner's toy.
