You probably have to be a boomer to appreciate that one.

I took care of a hamster as a favor to a friend. Went to feed him, and he bit me pretty hard.

It took a whole lot of willpower not to feed him to their dog.

IIRC, once you got him out of the cage, he was OK.
But reaching into the cage to get him out always made him grumpy.

Hamilton.

My kids had two rats. They were great pets. They liked to sit on your shoulder while watching TV. One became pregnant and I did not know it.
She gave me a really hard bite, just because she was pregnant and did not want to be handled. Other than that they were great.

Many years ago I had a friend who had a snake, he only fed his snake live rats I can't say I recall the reasoning, but one day he threw in a rat and the snake refused to eat it, he tried this I think 3 days in a row and finally threw in a different rat, his snake ate that one. He tried again a week or so later, same result, in the end my friend ended up with a pet rat

Stacey would be a fitting name. We had a long time Foo member who loved rats and was just an incredible person. She lost her battle with luekemia a few years back. The last foo jersey had a white rat on the shoulder as a tribute, as her name was Stacey. She would be honored to have a rat named after her.
