Evidently Mr. Ringo's an educated man. Now I really hate him.

Wow. While I would never claim Glover has a lot of range, his ability to completely inhabit certain characters is uncanny, making him a very fine actor imho. Check out his line reading of "Guys! The car!" in At Close Range. With that simple exclamation Glover effectively conveys a punk who knows he has no future realizing that he now has even less of one.

I came into this thread to say Kevin Costner! He's been in some decent movies, made a few of them himself as Director apparently, but holy-mother-of-god he's about as reactive/emotional as a 2x4. Worst line readings ever. Stiff, wooden, devoid of inflection, totally implausible.

I've seen the movie but not in awhile. It was made the same year as River's Edge, which is really my main reason for nominating him. Plus he's always just rubbed me the wrong way. Seems like a really really weird guy to me... Which probably makes him perfect for certain roles.

Crispin is not acting. He is one of those rare individuals who merely plays himself. IMHO, he is completely bonkers out of his mind insane, which makes acting a natural occupation.,,,,BD

Kevin Costner had a pivotal role in one of my favorite movies of all time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Big_Chill_%28film%29

He's turned down far more great roles than he's played.

Looking at this list, I'd say that we, the viewers, got the better end of the bargain in most cases. Kevin Costner has done our culture a service by refusing these parts.

Would have loved to see him as Neo, though.

But that was his turning point. After that forgetable series, I think he realized that he would always be Captian Kirk, and nobody would ever take him seriously again. So he stopped taking himself seriously. Best thing he ever did for his career.

How come nobody mentioned Brendan Fraser?

Because he's proven himself surprisingly competant in a few roles

...although also surprisingly incapable of avoiding roles that, through no fault of his own, completely suck.

Depp played Hunter S. Thompson well in Fear and Loathing and I believe in the Rum Diaries.

That's the only thing I've enjoyed him in.

Yes he was good in "With Honors"
But on the other hand "Encino Man" was worse than horrible.

Ever since then, every time I hear HST's name mentioned, I immediately hear Depp's voice.

    Me too.

Those movies are the only reason I can't completely hate Depp as an actor. I can only hate what he's become.

It makes me unspeakably sad that he's going to Depp all over my childhood in the new Lone Ranger movie though.

I thought his turn as Jack Sparrow in the first "Pirates" was brilliant. Unfortunately, that's the character he has played in every role since.

Great movie, eh? But he was a little stiff in that role.
