Richard Simmons is actually a really cool dude. My brother was the producer for his Serrious radio show for a couple of years. He invited our whole family over to his house on time when we were all out in LA. He is one funny dude. The stuff you see on TV is mostly an act. In person, he is just a regular guy (yes, very light in the loafers, but still pretty normal). After meeting him I have a whole new respect for him. He truly believes in helping others.

Happy Birthday, Richard.

He has helped a lot of people become active and lose weight, and he's been a pretty good sport about being the butt of jokes. You don't see much of that these days.

My entire memories of him are David Letterman spraying him with a fire extinguisher.
