The I-Hate-Gum thread.

Great day for a long, leisurely ride in my part of the world. Just one problem: Gum on my front tire. AAAARRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!! I hate gum!
Arguably the worst thing to get stuck on your tire. Damn stuff is difficult to remove, and if you don't, it just picks up shards of glass, metal,
and whatever else is strewn in the roadway.

Why does this stuff even exist? I didn't like it as a kid, and I certainly don't want anything to do with it now.

Some might say that doggie doo is the worst thing. I must disagree. You know what doggie doo is all about, you know where it came from, and you always known
exactly where you stand with doggie doo. With gum, you don't know who's been chewing it. And why can't they just spit the stuff in the nearest barrel? Is that
too hard? Today's flavor was some sort of minty green smurf.

So... Post your reasons for hating gum.

I have a neighbor with dementia. He chews gum and walks across the street and puts the wad on my sidewalk and my next door neighbor's sidewalk.

Before I knew who the culpprit was I had seen this collection growing and wondered WTF? Then one day my wife sees him in the act and mentions to me she saw Joe place something on the sidewalk and wondered what it was. She pointed out roughly the spot and, under the pretext of checking my mailbox, went out and spotted the freshly deposited gum.

ever seen a cow chew its cud? same thing.

it's the one thing i can't stand for its smell. i'd rather smell a rotting corpse. do they market rotting corpse gum? that would be the ultimate worst smell.

I hate people chewing gum too. The church I go to had black sticky gum spots all over the sidewalk, walkways and even steps leading up to the church. We all donated a small fortune to have all the gum removed and power washed the walkways. This leads to Siu's thread about what the world needs...the leather strop.

Have you tried to freeze it with compressed air can?

Rubber is the main ingredient of gum, same as your tires, and your tire runs over spit, ****, bugs, worms, you name it, so yeah, gum and you tires have a lot in common.

Nothing like getting home from a ride on a hot day to find gum splattered all over the rear of your bike and clothing. WD40 works like magic to remove it, btw.
