It's not my fault. I play Freecell occasionally, and that's about it.

I play the cheating backgammon app on my phone and I've recently discovered Spider Solitaire, but that's about it. I don't own a gaming console.

I wrote a version of Pong once. I also made a rip-off of Whack A Mole.

Not a surprise since a movie is a 2hr entertainment when a video game is more expensive and last longer.
Blockbuster (AAA) video games are becoming more a rule than an exception nowadays. Shareholders are taking less and less risks by focusing on what they know can make big money. Bigger investments on what is proven to work for bigger ROI and less risks.
The next gen consoles will probably bring more open-world (like GTA) and movie-like video games that started with the last gen consoles.

Wondering how people will react to the oculus rift

I picked up gta v last night... I've played longer than an entire campaign in the call of duty games and I'm about 10% done. Only game I've bought new for my xbox.

I used to ( 10 years ago), play a few video games, but I can't be bothered anymore. I used to lay in bed with sensory overload after playing video games ... don't need that.

Maybe what you felt was not a bad thing as it seems that some video games help the brain in some ways

Brain-training video games may help reverse cognitive decline in old age

You and George Lucas. Lucasfilm is starting to use video game engines to do post production film work
