Where the heck did another year go?

I can't believe it's another year gone by already. Today's my birthday, and it seems like I just had birthday. I guess maybe time seems to go by faster as you get older, at least maybe until retirement.

It never slows down.

I think it works proportionately. When you are 3, a year is 1/3 of your life, so it seems long. When you are 50, a year is 1/50 of your life and zips by like the second hand of a watch.

Happy Birthday.

Happy birthday. We share the date. Time flies when you're having fun.

Though I am 54, time moves slowly for me, and when I look back over a year, I am amazed how long ago it seems. What I think makes the difference is how many different experiences you are having. For a kid, lots of stuff is new, so looking back a year is full of memories.

But if you merely trudge off to work, mow the lawn, etc, there isn't a lot memorable.

The funny thing is, when you aren't living an interesting life, the days drag and seem to be forever, but when you look back, the year seems to have flown by. I guess time is truly relative...
