I've always loved that song, especially since seeing it in "The Right Stuff", but I never knew the title or the artists. Thank you. It's a dead sexy song.

Here's a version when they were on American Bandstand. You can watch him playing the pedal steel guitar.

This may be the most avant garde album of the entire decade. The recording techniques that Andre Popp used were decades ahead of his time. My dad, an engineer, brought home a copy and 3 year old me instantly fell in love with it.

His best known song was "Love is Blue".

William Steig, who illustrated the cover and was published frequently in New Yorker would later pen a book called Shrek.

I followed the pattern, 80's Friday, 70's Thursday, 60's Wednesday, 50's Tuesday. I think Monday should be new music.

A lot of songs that people take as classic 50s, are actually early 60s, pre-British Invasion. A good example of this is the classic
"Mountain High" by Dick and Deedee. Sadly, Dick St. John died some years back in some sort of home accident. Fell off his roof,
    I think.
