I will be in between jobs in one week

Early I posted about which one of the "bucket list" is should do if I found myself between jobs.
Well I finally gave my boss (a$$) my two weeks notice last week, my last day with the current employer is next Saturday. So obviously I am going to seek new employment, but if nothing worth my time shows up within a period of time (weeks not months) I am going to do something, given the time of year it is, I am thinking of that ride of the ACA southern tier route I started 8 years ago.

So that they say is that. Sure I might regret it for a while but as that women that made that viral "gone" dancing "I quit" video said on Queen Latifah's talk show "Sometimes you have to forcefully close one door to open others".

Amen to that.

So now that I am just a few days away from ending one chapter of my life, I have been thinking about what the next chapter will read like. As far as my financial future I have been considering way of making a living doing something I actually like and can do by myself. I am almost deaf in one ear so that make for interacting with people somewhat difficult.

How about a Florida bicycle touring company? I have seen people touring here, particularly in the winter. I have done some touring here and know of places to ride. Sure it would be a slow business to start up. But I am sure there is at least a small market for such a service.

Best of Luck to you.

If your ride includes the Savannah area give me a 'heads up' and I'll do what I can.

Well the new job opportunity hunt has begun. I have my first interview this afternoon. Same type of business I am in now, a competitor of my current employer. The interview is for a position pretty much the same as my current position.

Hopefully, you didn't sign a noncompete at your last place then.

Good luck, a lateral transfer to a place with more promise is a promotion.

Well, I won't start at the new place until after the last day of employment at the current job, so there won't be any problems with a non compete.

Well that's the way I am looking at it. I've been with the same employer for 8 years now, And lately I have been getting the feeling that I have hit a glass ceiling.

Then you didn't sign a non-compete statement. Usually the enforcement of those begin when you leave and can last for years.

No non compete is used by my current employer for after employment is terminated. They do have a non compete clause while working for them. It's kind of weird the person I have the interview with also worked for my present employer in the past.

New from the employment hunt.
Well I have been given a conditional employment offer, pending background check and drug screen. Position is the same as my current position for the competitor.
And I have another interview on Tuesday the 22nd of October (next week).
So far it's looking fairly promising for future employment.

Well one would be well within bicycle commuting distance and being that we are coming into the best riding season here in south Florida that might weigh in on my decision.

Well it was always my plan to seek employment first and if nothing turned up, then do some touring.

Wish you the best! I also wish I had the guts to do it too. The place I am currently at is like working in a real life Dilbert cartoon.

Thanks, well I wouldn't say my current employment is like a cartoon, but at some point it just got to be too much for me to deal with. I am hoping by closing that chapter of my life something better will come out of it.

Well, so much for a little vacation between jobs, well okay I did have 4 days, but I start my new job tomorrow. Same job, just a different company, hopefully with more room for advancement.
