    Eric Johnson

if you don't already know about him, Windy, google up his videos. Bet he's played on half the albums in your collection.

Satarini, Vai, and Johnson played together in the 90s.

how can one say eric johnson is underrated? he's been on a thousand guitar mag covers. of course, this was 25 years ago...

an underrated guitar player is a musician that's been around a long time, known for his keyboard playing, steve winwood. he toured with clapton not long ago, blowing the hack off stage with his brilliant phrasing, dissonance, and quirky, beautiful melodies. he's a badass.

David Lindley. He can play just about anything with strings (guitar, violon, mandolin, pedal steel, etc.). He played on most of the Jackson Browne, Eagles, Linda Rondstat albums back in the 1970s-early 1980s, and played in their back-up bands. Still tours to this day:

Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, and Stevie Vai are contmporaries, and all great guitar players. My favorite for a live performance is Joe (really gets in touch with his audience), and th worst is Eric; he's kind of lifeless on stage, almost as boring as watching paint dry. Joe arranged the 'G3' concert tours a few years ago where three great guitar players all did sets, then they did a combined set at the end. All thre of these guys played on one of the tours - great shows if you ever saw any of them.

Highly rated but under appreciated because of the genre.

Mike Bloomfield. He was a great guitarist who helped combine elements of blues, jazz and rock back in the early 60's.

That's a great one. I saw him live with Jackson Browne in 1986.

I sent your link to a friend who plays a uke. Make him up his game. Here's the friend in 1985.

Small time favourite of mine - The Clouds, an Australian band from the early nineties.

    http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...lian+band&sm=1
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Clo...stralian_band)

They didn't get the success they deserved. Triple J's (the Australian 'youth' radio station) music journalist and historian Richard Kingsmill commented in his 'Retro-perspective' on the band that they were a few years ahead of their time and would have been huge if they were 5 years later...

I like his music mainly for the way it's calm and yet aggressively political, so perhaps he wasn't under rated even though he wrote some big hits, but I still am into him. Here is one of his songs that isn't so political.
