One tired 'ol cowboy, diagnosed a year ago with pancreatic cancer but still hanging in.

Thanks Ray.

When I close my eyes, I see you. No matter where I am, I can smell your perfume through these whisperin' pines...

I guess a little gypsy jazz couldn't hurt here...

Wow
Just an excellent Django Reinhardt cover. Lots of his fans in these forums I'm finding. Here's the man who played with three fingers (his third and fourth fingers were paralyzed after an injury in a fire):

lmao...oh no! That's not me...it's Maestro Bireli Lagrene. He's a phenomenally talented musician! Django's surviving brother named Bireli the heir to Reinhardt's legacy.

I'm a fan and he's not in many people's listening purview. I'm a hack rock guitarist. Played the circuit here in NYC for 25 years and I'm just done. I'm aspiring to curmudgeonly zen at this point.

You're avatar looks a bit like him so I had to wonder
I think there are about 3 people that are Reinhardt fans over in the C&V forum when they had a music thread up over there for awhile. I pick from Reinhardt's stuff to listen a little myself.

Ha! Richard Galliano, playing the accordion in that piece, is a giant in his own right as well. Mind-boggling virtuosity. My tastes run a vast gamut. Jazz, fusion, all sorts of ethnic musics, rock since it's inception until now, funk, r&b...avante guarde...

Zinger 12-10-13 02:53 PM

Here's a guy influenced by Django Reinhardt among others. I believe he plays with Boots Randolf on this one.

And yeah, my taste varies a little as well.

We can't have Chet without Danny...:

That classic rock revival stuff, some is pretty damned good...I like these guys because their recordings are slamming, classic tones caught well...I'm a big fan of mix & production aesthetic, for me Jet is an excellent watermark for classic guitar sounds (The song is a romp as well!!!!):

UnfilteredDregs 12-10-13 05:30 PM

Just to mix it up a bit... easily one of the best live bands in the world right now; it's nice to see that some remember how to pull off arena rock. Big shoes to fill:
