Not a subject that should be discussed in a public forum IMHO without the spouse present, unless one is seeking counsel from close friends on a closed forum.

Just my two cents.

Rule #1 ; Never date anyone who would date you!

If that rule doesn' work out, then just assume she settled

Live with the fact that you got lucky; leaving you way out of your league

Don't screw it up as it is unlikely to happen twice!

Bring flowers often, diamonds on regular basis, often help with the dishes

Always shower and shave well before bedtime.

Don't be an a$$

Organization by purse method...

I use something, I put it back right where I got it... that is the first place I'll look for it later.

The wife believes the world is her purse... when she is through with something she puts in a new place so that she has to "find it" all over again... "the purse mode..." don't put it back into the same pocket, just dump it into the big opening and dig for it later.

Where this is really evident is that she refuses to learn software tools... she always has to hunt for the command all over again. The other evident thing is the kitchen... nothing is ever where it was before. There is no way for me to counter this... I can't learn a logic that fits this situation... as the situation is "chaos and hunt."

She could learn "everything has a place," but she won't.

On the plus side this ying and yang has been part of our relationship for over 30 years. She is artist, I am technical; she is far sighted, I am near sighted; I am organized; she is random. It works.

Oh wow! You're married to my wife! LOL. You just described my wife perfectly. Kitchen cabinets are the worse. We have a 5 sided cheese grater and a small cheese grater. Grating cheese for just 1 person's lunch or a snack, it gets taken out of the cabinet with the plates, washed, and put in the cabinet with the pots and pans. I use it, it goes back next to the plates again. She uses it again and you'd think maybe she'd put it with the pots and pans again? Nope, this time it goes in the cabinet that holds most of the ingredient stuff like vinegar, tea bags, sugar, cocoa, and such. Time after that I find it with the bowls.

The other thing she does that drives me nuts is get in cabinet and get out tea bags. Use 7 tea bags to make ice tea and leave them on the counter. Get out the sugar from the bottom cabinet and leave it on the counter. She puts nothing away! Well, eventually she does when she cleans up the whole kitchen. Really, how hard is it to open the cabinet again, or leave it open even, and put the thing back. The bathroom is the same way. She cleans and there isn't a thing on the counter in the bathroom. It looks so nice. The next morning I get up for work and I'm knocking over contact solution, facial scrub, mouthwash, toothpaste with my elbows.

In this era of spell checkers, online dictionaries, etc., plus she has degrees in Nutrition and Education but I am the designated keeper of spelling knowldege. She'll be working on something and I get "How do I spell ......" After 27 years, I've given up arguing or explaining the most amazing book with Webster's on the cover. I just spell.

She used to be really poor directionally. Got her a GPS. Problem solved.

good words of caution. I meant it to be light hearted and not too serious, more along the lines of that thread about getting ready to move in with someone - anything I should know ...

even the what makes me crazy in love w my spouse can be dicey for a public forum ...

these posts though seem tame enough. would be nice if some women chimes in. so long as it doesn't all get too heavy

There's a phrase she uses, "Six to one, half a dozen on the other," that drives me nuts. It's "Six of one, half a dozen of the other."

I disagree. Sometimes one just needs to vent. If I brought up this minor thing w/ my wife, it'd cause a huge amount of stress. In reality, it's not that big of a deal, and there are much more important things to worry about, so I try to just let it slide right past me.

Hubby drops his laundry NEXT to the hamper, not IN the hamper. Can't find clean clothes unless they are precisely placed where they belong - a stack of his clothes sitting on the dryer awaiting transport to the bedroom simply doesn't exist. Opens cabinets, drawers, etc., can't close them.

Her insistence that I grub around for the filthy lucre when I'd rather be sitting around scratching my ass thinking about fixing something to eat maybe.

Squeezes the tube from the middle.

Will make a comment about something being dirty/full etc....but not take care of it.

If you aren't going to fix it/empty it..........DON'T say anything about it.

If I get water on the bathroom counter she freaks if I don't clean it up, but she'll get hair dye all over the counter and ignore it. It will sit there until I get water on the counter and she insists I clean it... damnit she's trained me to clean up her messes!

HE'S CHEAPER THAN THE DAY IS LONG!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm frugal. I'll shop for the best price for a quality item and than take care of it. Not him. He will pick a thing just because it is the cheapest one. ARGH!!!!This is NOT how you save money!!!!!

Wew. I feel somewhat better now..

Mine has no sense of punctuality. She is late for everything. I put my foot down and said, we cn be late however much you want for your things. When its important for me, we will be on time or I will be on time.
