Or perhaps the cats are well aware of what it is about, and are just messing with the scientists.

I'm not sure that dogs feel that you own them, but they do see you as the leader of the pack.

Agree. We had a German Shepard and she demonstrated all the body language of an omega dog. What a brillant dog. We have a West Highland Terrier now and he's an idiot. Nothing in his behavior evens resembles pack behavior. I think the cat would gladly kill him for us just to do the canine world a favor.

Yup, every office should have a cat chained to the wall with a sign over it reading, "Kick cat for instant stress relief!"

I have very nearly had it with my wife's cats. I've made a lot of compromises for my domestic tranquility and some of them are not paying off. That's all I can say about that without getting disgusting...

Isn't funny in a world where some jagoff would actually do this.

When I worked for Sun Microsystems in Broomfield CO, the campus allowed workers to bring their dogs in, and as long as the dog was well-behaved, and as long as it was only done *occasionally* and not on a regular basis. I never saw any issue with it other than I learned to always look *down* when rounding the corners in the cubicle aisles, after almost stepping on a few dogs.

FWIW, my post was meant to be funny, not taken seriously. Personally if I ever caught ANYONE hurting a cat (or any other critter) I would probably kill that person, no B.S. Kill that person.

I feel the same about my critters from time to time, but then I realized most of the "bad" things they do are my fault, they're animals...end of story. I took them in and promised to care for them, so its my job to make sure that they have every thing they need to be happy, its just the way it is. If you REALLY didn't like your wife's cats you shouldn't blame the cats as in reality your the one that doesn't like the cats, so maybe it'll be easier for you to find a new wife that doesn't like cats.

That only proves that the cat in the experiment is a free loader, like a stray cat that hangs around for the next free hand out, all of our cats are the complete and total opposite in so many ways.

The experiment is a situational strawman. It incorrectly assumes a universal behavior.

Now cats on the internet can help you learn Spanish. http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/11/20/how-to-learn-spanish-using-cat-photos/ Of course it may just be lolspeak en Espanola. I wonder if they'll develop a version to help us understand Canadians, eh?
