For sure.

I woke up this morning to our tree laying flat on the floor. We have a 9 month old cat so full of kitten energy.

Shared.

I have two cats at home and a cat at the office where I work. I can't get away.
I love them all.

Yes, my workplace, a professional type of office, has an office cat. It's super awesome.

We never have a tree. It would be folly to attempt such a thing.

I like the idea of office cats. There are a huge number of offices in this country and a whole lot of cats in shelters who would be much better off in an office environment.

Offices should have cats. If nothing else, it would help with stress levels.

That would creep me out. Cats are not domesticated animals. They are top level predators who have chosen human dwellings as their niche.

Ah... but they are so so sweet when they purr.

That, and I cannot fear something that looks like this.

Well an offi e cat would seem to make more sense than an office dog, cats seem to be more independent then dogs, I have had both cats and dogs, but don't have any now.

Obsidian ("Sid") has been living in our office for just over a year now.
There are 6 of us in the office. I used to joke with the office manager Kim that we needed an office cat. We liked the idea but it didn't seem really practical so we never made the move to go out and look for a cat.

Last November I was riding my bike home as usual and just down the street from the office, on a frontage road, I noticed a black cat in a culvert next to the road. I stopped and the cat came out to see me, very friendly. I petted the cat for a few minutes but then I had to go. The cat chased me for a block! Meowing loudly. "Hey, don't leave me!" I didn't know what else to do but I had to get home. The next morning I brought some food to leave for it, the cat was still there. I think she had been abandoned by the road. She did not seem like she had been abused or been out there very long.

I wanted to take her home but I already have 2 cats and they don't like other cats.

When I told Kim about the cat in the culvert she said that she thought it was time to have an office cat. (Kim is one one of the nicest people on the planet.) So I retrieved her from the culvert and brought her in to the office and she settled in fine. I think she was about 1 year old. Had her shots and had her spayed. I try to tend to most of her care. Everyone chips in money for food and cat litter. Sometimes Kim tells me to use my company credit card for kitty supplies. I even stop in on weekends to check on her.

One co-worker has brought her dog in a few times when the weather is bad. It's a yellow lab dog, a very nice dog. Sid seems to really like the dog. Having pets in the office is really great!

Now that Sid is almost 2 and is grown up she has settled down and is an awesome cat. I'm always excited to come into work to see her.

I have a large window behind my desk in my office and I put a tall cat tree in front of the window. Sid spends a lot of time on that cat tree. Yeah, she sometimes sleeps on my lap while I'm working at my computer.

^^You do have an awesome office manager! I work in a huge building so it would be very impractical to have any pets.

My 13-year-old cat has started knocking things off the tree this year. He used to just sleep under the tree and not bother anthing. This year he's batting at the low-hanging ornaments and trying to chew the wire for the lights.

Funny story (at least I think so)... many years ago, when my cat was young, I worried about putting up the Christmas tree. Since I am an old lady, my tree is covered with very expensive ornaments, alot of them handblown glass etc. For many years I have collected and hang glass birds. The birds have many colorful and fancy feathers attached.

I put up the tree and the cat didn't seem interested. I went to work the next day. When I came home I notice the tree seemed bare... in checking I noticed just about every bird was missing... I found them all (save one which I never found) in the corner behind the couch. I guess he had a good ole time hunting, pouncing and capturing all the birds. Thankfully I thought it was hilarious! It was several years before I hung birds again and by then he was older and fatter and not interested....

They are the bosses. In penance for your false thoughts they will have a serving of tuna tonight.

Awwwwww!!! The best kind of cat story! Sounds like she has the life now.

And a black cat too. My two boys (rescued from a box @ three-four weeks) congratulate her on her choice of humans.

(The one in front is Machiavelli, the one in back is Zarathustra. They are Oriental/meez mixes and constantly underfoot when not crammed into a small basket.)

I visit them to buy bike parts and get some quality cat time. I don't think cat time is available on their online store.

A recent study suggests that cats were domesticated at the same time as that of wheat and barley in the Fertile Crescent region, that is about 10,000 years ago. Time will tell--the only archaeological data supporting that is at Shillourokambos in Cyprus. This exciting news is definitely not as far-fetched as it might be, given the role of the cat as the hunter of grain-eating rodents. It's one of those arguments about who may have been more domesticated in this relationship--the cat or the human?

You need a laptop for cat time online.
