Look for refurbs at newegg.com, or dell.com.
Otherwise I think I've seen new laptops advertised for just over $300.

windhchaser 01-02-14 08:42 PM

i was hoping to spend less then 2 hundred. need something a tad better then my laptop with its atom cpu and 1 gig a ram

You'd be hard presses to beat this deal on a new basic PC.

Seconded. Got one for my kid and she loves how small light it is all well as the fact the battery lasts a long time and it runs cool.

bikemig 01-02-14 09:09 PM

I'm typing on a chromebook right now; love it.

windhchaser 01-02-14 09:25 PM

is the 199.99 chrome book any good

oddjob2 01-02-14 09:46 PM

If you still use DVDs, not included with chrome book.

windhchaser 01-02-14 09:49 PM

nah i dont need a optical drive

texbiker 01-02-14 11:02 PM

I agree with the Chromebook. I happen to have an extra one if you are interested. Acer C710-2847. It's on Ebay.

I picked up the Samsung for 199 and based on my daughters reaction, worth every penny.

no one had the chrome book i wanted.just the 249 one and i felt i did not want to spend 250 for a laptop with a 16 gig drive got this one for 150 and it had a fresh os install

windhchaser 01-04-14 05:48 PM

it only has around 1720 hours on it

TiBikeGuy 01-04-14 07:59 PM

I just got a used HP laptop with DVD drive for US$150, my friend's company is buying newer and lighter computers for their staff for outdoor project work. The old ones are deemed too heavy, too slow, they don't need the DVD drive, etc.. but it suits my needs just fine. I don't need fast speed processor to read and write emails, type documents on word processor or spreadsheets. They even gave me a new battery, new mouse, new charger, and a new laptop bag and installed all the new software that I needed.

I first got wind of this deal because my friend bought one for his kids. It seems like they are clearing their old laptops after the engineers completed their field project because the new software that they are using needs a faster processor and bigger memory.

yeah your internet connection would have bee my guess for the culprit. what speed connection do you have from your ISP?
i'm pretty sure amazon streams at 720p anyway. not sure about netflix, but i'd guess the same.

windhchaser 01-05-14 11:57 AM

yeah it wasnt my interent not sure what the deal is i downloaded a 1.5 gig iso in like 15 minutes

the sci guy 01-05-14 01:28 PM

could just be amazon. we stream amazon instant video through our Roku, and the past few days it's been really slow to respond, sometimes even dropping the stream and connection.

windhchaser 01-05-14 01:35 PM

i hope its that simple i just streamed a 4k stream on my desktop.which i guess is pointless since my monitor is not a 4 k monitor. ps i think ya would have to be sitting like 1 feet away froma 60 inch screen to notice 4k over 1080p

windhchaser 01-05-14 03:23 PM

i stumped there level 3 tech suport lol toshiba that is
