Look for refurbs at newegg.com, or dell.com.
Otherwise I think I've seen new laptops advertised for just over $300.

You'd be hard presses to beat this deal on a new basic PC.

Seconded. Got one for my kid and she loves how small light it is all well as the fact the battery lasts a long time and it runs cool.

I agree with the Chromebook. I happen to have an extra one if you are interested. Acer C710-2847. It's on Ebay.

I just got a used HP laptop with DVD drive for US$150, my friend's company is buying newer and lighter computers for their staff for outdoor project work. The old ones are deemed too heavy, too slow, they don't need the DVD drive, etc.. but it suits my needs just fine. I don't need fast speed processor to read and write emails, type documents on word processor or spreadsheets. They even gave me a new battery, new mouse, new charger, and a new laptop bag and installed all the new software that I needed.

I first got wind of this deal because my friend bought one for his kids. It seems like they are clearing their old laptops after the engineers completed their field project because the new software that they are using needs a faster processor and bigger memory.

yeah your internet connection would have bee my guess for the culprit. what speed connection do you have from your ISP?
i'm pretty sure amazon streams at 720p anyway. not sure about netflix, but i'd guess the same.

could just be amazon. we stream amazon instant video through our Roku, and the past few days it's been really slow to respond, sometimes even dropping the stream and connection.

i hope its that simple i just streamed a 4k stream on my desktop.which i guess is pointless since my monitor is not a 4 k monitor. ps i think ya would have to be sitting like 1 feet away froma 60 inch screen to notice 4k over 1080p
